You slept like s**t last night. Do you REALLY need to push through the workout you had planned?
Not necessarily.
This is something I wish more women understood about training through menopause.
Your body doesn’t exist in a vacuum.
If you spent half the night awake, sweating, throwing the blankets off and putting them back on, your body is telling us something about the recovery you had.
And I want your movement plan to acknowledge that.
That doesn’t automatically mean do nothing.
It might mean:
💪 Strength training with a little less intensity
🚶♀️ Going for a walk
🧘♀️ Mobility or Pilates
⏱️ Doing 15–20 minutes instead of 45
😴 Prioritizing recovery
Adjusting the plan isn’t failing the plan.
That’s a HUGE distinction.
And outside your workouts, look at the basics too: consistent sleep/wake times, morning light, caffeine and alcohol, bedroom temperature, movement and stress management.
Persistent or significant sleep problems are also worth discussing with your healthcare provider. You don’t have to assume it’s simply something you have to tolerate because you’re in menopause.
And please remember:
You don’t have to punish an exhausted body to prove you’re committed.
Send this to your fellow 3 a.m. ceiling-staring friend. 😂
