The best hour of your week.

You owe it to yourself to spend one hour a week learning the gentle arts of qigong and tai chi.

Qigong is an ancient exercise form that gently exercises every muscle, joint, ligament in your body. It is like tai chi, but without the walking. It’s easier to learn, and you will see the benefits quicker. it is great for circulation, strength and flexibility, arthritis, diabetes, joint replacement recovery.

Tai chi is what people recognize as a slow moving exercise that is excellent for balance, coordination flexibility and core strength.

The best hour of your week will cost you $5.

Please join me this Saturday, May 23 for an hour of relaxation and gentle restorative exercise.

More than just the physical, qigong and tai chi help to balance the mind and emotions. They are is known (and I teach them)as a moving meditation.

I started learning qigong and tai chi in 1988 and have been teaching them for about 35 years. I believe in their benefits and have taught people who face various challenges: arthritis, diabetes, sciatic, Parkinson’s, heart conditions and various other conditions. I use it as a ‘rest day’ exercise to help me recover quicker from extreme workouts. It is an excellent restorative exercise for people who love to push their physical limits.

But this practice also appeals to those who simply want a space to meditate and move their bodies as gently as they would like.

Tai chi (I teach yang style) and qigong (chee gong) are highly recommended by health professionals and doctors for their patients. The benefits are still being discovered.

I would love to provide the best hour of your week this Saturday.

The type of Qigong approach may also play a role in its effectiveness. An et al. [29] noted Baduanjin-style Qigong resulted in improvements in muscle strength, knee pain, stiffness and function during an 8-week training period. No control group was studied, but the short-term improvements in aerobic capacity with no adverse effects were notable. Moreover, in a controlled study of long-term care residents, a positive effect of Laughing Qigong was evidenced in terms of cognitive impairments and depression [30], and these were accompanied by increases in cortisol levels.

Background: Arthritis is a chronic condition resulting in considerable disability, particularly in later life. Aims: The first aim of this review was to summarize and synthesize the research base concerning the use of Qigong exercises as a possible ...
