So incredibly proud of all of these Whistling Pines riders! 💜🐴

Many of these girls asked to take a little break from their riding lessons so they could focus on preparing for their 4-H exhibits at the fair. Of course, I said yes! As much as I love having them at the barn, I love watching them chase their other passions and take on new challenges even more.

And boy, did they work hard! Watching all the preparation, dedication, and excitement that went into getting ready for the fair made me one very proud coach. 🥹💜

While I wasn't able to make it to their 4-H Regional Club Show, I was lucky enough to make it to the Market Auction and cheer them on from the sidelines. Seeing them confidently showing off all their hard work was pretty darn special!

These girls are a great reminder that there is so much more to being a rider than just what happens in the saddle. The responsibility, patience, confidence, dedication, and willingness to learn that they develop with their horses carries over into so many other parts of their lives.

I know I didn't get photos of everyone, but please know that I was cheering you all on! Whether you were in the ring, in the show barn, at the auction, or somewhere behind the scenes putting in the hard work — I am incredibly proud of each and every one of you! 💜

I may be your riding coach, but watching you succeed outside the arena is just as rewarding.

Way to go, Whistling Pines riders! You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves — because this coach sure is! 🐴💜👏

Now... who's ready to get back in the saddle?! 😉

We switched things up today for the last half of our lesson and added a little bit of jumping… at Marissa’s request! 🐴🤩

Apparently, that little taste was all it took, because by the end of the lesson they were already asking if their next lesson could be a full jumping lesson.

I said, say no more! Jumping is where I started, so I am VERY ready to get back to my roots and coach it! 🏇

Eline and I were already riding alongside the girls for the lesson, so when the poles started going up, we figured we might as well join in on the fun! Eline on Buddy and I had Sue, and we all had a turn over the little crossrails. Because really, why should the kids have all the fun? 😂

Elly also quickly discovered that Indie has a whole other gear when the poles start going up! That boy definitely knows when it’s time to turn things up a notch. 😏🔥

And then there was Cheyanne… The old lady power pony was apparently ready to relive her glory days and show Marissa how it’s done. And let me tell you, she did not disappoint! 😂💪 At 34 years young, Cheyanne still has plenty of power pony left in her!

A little jumping, a lot of laughs, and some very happy riders made for a pretty great end to the lesson. 🐴❤️

We didn't let the rain stop today's Fun Day—we decided to cowgirl up and make the best of it, and wow, these girls did not disappoint!

We spent the morning riding, and not just one horse. Every rider got to experience at least three different horses, and some even rode every single one! We swapped from horse to horse, getting a feel for each one's unique personality and way of going, with plenty of laughs along the way.

After a hot dog lunch, we settled in for a game of bingo, followed by our very own Whistling Pines Jeopardy. Then it was time to get creative as everyone designed their own Whistling Pines tote bag to take home.

We wrapped up the day with what was supposed to be bobbing for apples... except Coach forgot the apples. 🤦‍♀️ So naturally, we improvised and bobbed for blueberries instead! That's when the biggest laughs of the day began.

What started as bobbing for blueberries quickly turned into an all-out water fight, followed by horse trivia where the winner earned the right to dunk their opponent's head in the water. And for a few girls who apparently still weren't wet enough, they decided to jump right into the water trough! Good thing everyone packed spare clothes... even if they ended up needing them for reasons other than the rain!

Rain or shine, these girls brought the energy, the laughter, and the best attitudes. Days like today remind us that sometimes the most memorable adventures are the ones that don't go according to plan.

🐴 What a great Fun Day here at Whistling Pines Equi-Centre! ☀️
While we only had a few riders today, we certainly made the most of it! I'm so proud of each of these girls and everything they accomplished.

This morning, I let everyone choose which horse they wanted to ride, and they picked some fantastic partners. We spent the entire morning in the saddle—and I mean right up until lunchtime! The girls challenged themselves with some tricky riding patterns, and every single one of them rose to the occasion. Watching their confidence grow and seeing those huge smiles is exactly why I love hosting these Fun Days.

After lunch, we got a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into caring for our lesson horses. The girls weighed, measured, and prepared feed and supplements for the next few days before taking on a lesson in leg wraps. Why wraps? Because it was one of the challenges on their scavenger hunt!
Indie was the perfect patient for our wrapping demonstration... although it was just as much fun watching everyone practice on each other too! 😂

We finished the day with a mounted scavenger hunt through the riding ring, where everyone had to get creative picking up objects and carrying them while riding them to the drop-off point. It was a great way to end an amazing day filled with learning, laughter, teamwork, and horsemanship.

Way to go, girls! Thank you for making today so much fun—I can't wait to do it again! ❤️🐴
