Chinook Swim Club is open to the youth of the Sunshine Coast in BC, CANADA. We swim in the Gibsons Pool, the Sechelt Pool, and the Pender Harbour Pool. Our volunteer coaches provide speed swimming coaching and stroke development as well as showing how swimming can be a lifelong activity for fitness and wellness. The club's goal is to develop and promote swimming skills to make athletes powerful and dynamic swimmers who enjoy the water. Chinook Swim Club exists because of the generous time commitment of its volunteer coaches and board. Chinook is a member of Swim BC. "I’ve always loved the water and swimming. Swimming for the Chinook Swim Club gave me an opportunity to swim year round, stay in shape and have fun."

Registration is now open to new members! The Chinook Swim Club is run by certified Swim Canada Instructors that specialize in stroke and technique improvement. We have programming for swimmers starting at age 7. Our beginner program is two days a week Tuesday and Thursday and focuses on technique improvement. The only requirement is that your child is deep water safe. There is not any competition requirement.

In our age group program your child will learn the proper technique for all strokes and will gain the endurance they will need to achieve the time requirement in the 400 free to become a lifeguard if that is the path they choose. Water safety is our first priority!

Our competitive program has 5 levels and athletes will progress through these with the guidance of their coach to meet their age and development needs as an athlete.

Resilience, Perseverance, and a Provincial Podium

Every medal has a story, and this one is about determination.

Earlier this year, Chinook Swim Club athlete Siena Good faced a significant health setback that kept her out of the pool for eight weeks. During her recovery, she was unable to participate in regular training and instead focused on what she could do—building strength through gentle isometric exercises while patiently waiting for the opportunity to return to swimming.

When she was cleared to get back in the water, Siena approached every practice with determination. She rebuilt her fitness, refined her technique, and steadily regained the strength and confidence that had been interrupted by her illness.

That commitment paid off this weekend at the 2026 Swim BC Summer Provincial Championships in Kamloops, where Siena delivered an outstanding performance to earn the silver medal in the Girls’ 100 Breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:14.67.

Her journey is a reminder that success isn’t always measured by uninterrupted progress. Sometimes it comes from overcoming obstacles, trusting the process, and refusing to give up when the path becomes difficult.

Congratulations, Siena! Your resilience, work ethic, and positive attitude have inspired your teammates and coaches, and we couldn’t be prouder of your incredible accomplishment.
