BEST EXERCISE FOR HOCKEY PLAYERS... There is no best exercise, however, we do love sled marches.
Hockey players live in hip flexion. Skating places a huge hip flexion demand on the athlete, and they spend hours over the course of years on the ice in that position.
Therefore, exercises that counteract that, exercises that demand hip extension, is hugely important for the hockey athlete. Obviously, a few sets of Sled Marches aren’t going to instantly fix the years of hip flexion, but it will help with the long-term health of the hip complex.
We focus on player recovery, identifying/correcting imbalances/weaknesses, core strength, mobility and overall speed and strength. This is all strategically planned throughout the season. It's not random training, it's training with purpose.
