PERFORMANCE – That’s the number one goal for our co-ed Varsity program. Varsity helps teens to become better all around athletes period!

Varsity Spartans become stronger, faster, more powerful, and more flexible. On top of that, Degree Varsity Spartans learn about nutrition, how to persevere, thrive and work hard. Degree Varsity is not JUST Crossfit or GPP (General Physical Preparedness). It’s a specifically designed strength, speed and conditioning program to help teens improve their performance, all around athletic ability and pr

epare them for the next level. Specifically we train athletes the 10 general physical skills:
Cardiovascular Endurance
Stamina
Strength
Flexibility
Power
Speed
Coordination
Accuracy
Agility
Balance

At Degree Varsity we don’t only help our athletes become better in their sport, we also help them become better people by instilling life lessons that can transfer to everyday life like the Spartan Code

BEST EXERCISE FOR HOCKEY PLAYERS... There is no best exercise, however, we do love sled marches.
Hockey players live in hip flexion. Skating places a huge hip flexion demand on the athlete, and they spend hours over the course of years on the ice in that position.

Therefore, exercises that counteract that, exercises that demand hip extension, is hugely important for the hockey athlete. Obviously, a few sets of Sled Marches aren’t going to instantly fix the years of hip flexion, but it will help with the long-term health of the hip complex.

We focus on player recovery, identifying/correcting imbalances/weaknesses, core strength, mobility and overall speed and strength. This is all strategically planned throughout the season. It's not random training, it's training with purpose. ⁠

Congrats on 50, G baby!

Erick is a coaches dream athlete. He comes ready to work, he’s outgoing, wants to know how to improve and most importantly he is polite and a joy to be around. G as he is known around the gym, is always pushing himself and encourages his fellow Spartans at every training session. G has made some amazing strength gains over the past year and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for him in the gym and on the ice!

Why the Spartan athlete program?
💥We begin with a comprehensive evaluation to assess athletes current level of functioning and performance. From here, we analyze the athletes needs and develop our program around them and their goals.

Becoming a more powerful athlete is one of the best things you can do.

Athletes have to produce and absorb force in all angles, on both one and two legs, and their off-season training should prepare them to do so.

You can become more powerful with little to ZERO equipment (stay at home order can’t stop YOU!)

Athletes, spend time working on the following;
🔥Jump on two legs
🔥Hop both linearly and laterally on one leg
🔥Bound from leg to leg to get into the frontal plane
🔥 SPRINT- Progress from slow to fast

Another “Open” season has come and gone. 3 weeks worth of intense workouts that really tests not only the body, but the mind. The last workout was a real test, not only was it long and taxing but then there was a second part that tested their strength on an empty tank. This group gave everything they had and made us all very proud.

Way to go, Kyle!

Kyle has been crushing it with the Degree Spartans since day 1. He has such a great work ethic and his funny and energetic personality make him a joy to be around. He is always asking questions and wanting to do things the right way, which is why he has saw so much progress and success in his speed times and his strength numbers continue to rise. Congrats on 50 classes and we can’t wait to see all the gains this summer will bring.

TAKE A BREAK FROM THE SCREEN!

With the amount of hours we are spending in front of screens right now, it’s so important that we take frequent breaks AWAY from them and move our bodies.

Do yourself a favour, and at the top of every hour (at least), get up, do a few laps around the inside of your house and spend 15-20 sec doing each of the following. (Can take a little as 5 min)
Your mind and body will thank you!
