THE NUTCRACKER | COMMUNITY CAST CALL & AUDITIONS 🩰🎄

This winter, North Shore Dance Company is bringing The Nutcracker to the stage, and we're inviting our community to be part of it!

We're so excited to be doing something a little different for this year's Winter Showcase. Alongside our dancers, we'd love to welcome members of our community to help bring this classic Christmas story to life.

And the best part? You don't have to be a dancer to participate!

We're looking for dancers interested in auditioning for featured roles, as well as children and adults who would love to take on acting and character roles. Whether you have years of performance experience or have never stepped foot on a stage, we'd love to hear from you!

There's something really special about bringing people together to create something for our little communities, and we're hoping to make this a holiday production that everyone can be part of and enjoy.

🎄 INTRODUCING THE NORTH SHORE GIVING TREE! 🎄

This Christmas, we’re starting something new at North Shore Dance Company, and it’s something I’m really excited to bring to our communities!

The North Shore Giving Tree is a community initiative created to help ease some of the financial stress of the holiday season and make Christmas morning a little brighter for local children and families. ❤️

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Families can confidentially register their children (ages 0–17) and share three Christmas gift wishes. Each child will have an anonymous tag placed on our Giving Tree inside North Shore Dance Company.

Community members can then visit the studio, choose a tag, and purchase one of the three gifts listed. Gifts will be collected at the studio and personally delivered to families before Christmas! Can’t make it to the studio? Send Ms Emma a message and we will sort it out for you. Can’t bring your gift back to NSDC? We can arrange for that too!

WHO CAN REGISTER?

Any family in Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Rossport, Pays Plat and surrounding communities who could use a little extra support this holiday season. Whether you’re experiencing financial difficulties, navigating unexpected circumstances, or simply finding Christmas a little harder this year, you’re welcome to register.

There is no proof of income required, no need to explain your circumstances, and all registrations are confidential.

IMPORTANT DATES:
Family registration closes October 31st.
Giving Tree opens November 2nd.
Gifts must be returned by December 10th.
Gifts will be delivered December 12th–25th.

This Thanksgiving, I find myself thinking about just how thankful I am to have the opportunity to watch your children grow into such passionate young dancers.

Every day, I get to watch them grow, not just as dancers, but as people. Seeing their confidence grow, their friendships form and their love for dance develop is something I’ll never take for granted.

I’ll forever be grateful for the parents who trust me with their children, believe in what I do and are always there cheering us on from the crowd. Your support means more than you know.

I’m also so thankful for our wonderful teachers who put so much time and love into making the studio such a special place for our dancers. They create safe, welcoming environments where our dancers can truly feel comfortable being themselves, express who they are and grow with confidence.

I’m so lucky to have this not-so-little 😜 dance family, and even luckier to be a small part of your children’s lives❤️

Wishing all of our dance families a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! 🦃

🎃 HALLOWEEN WEEK! 👻

October 26-29, we’re inviting all our dancers to wear their Halloween costumes to dance class!

Just a couple of reminders:
👻 Hair still needs to be pulled back into a ponytail.
🎃 If your costume is a little tricky to dance in, we recommend wearing something underneath or bringing a change of clothes so you can still move comfortably!

We can’t wait for a SPOOKTACULAR week of dance! 🕸️

Oh day 3, you were a good one! 🩷

We had our littlest dancers in for the first time (quite literally the calmest 3 yr old class I’ve ever taught 😂), a jam packed Petite Acro class with so many familiar faces, and ended the night laughing with my Intermediates.
