Hello my friends. In everyone's life comes a time where things come to an end, and I have come to that point with StickMasters; however, it is also a NEW BEGINNING of bigger and better things to come. I have handed over the reigns of SM to my highest ranking student... the same Master to whom I passed on the art of Kong Shin Bup a few years ago.
When I created the Ugly Stick, I always had in mind that the pattern of the part that makes the ugly stick UGLY had to be a diamond shape. Unfortunately, a back injury prevented me from standing behind my work bench long enough to make that happen. So, I am delighted to see that my successor, Grandmaster Kevin Janisse, managed to make it work.
In fact, if it were not for the fact that the Ugly Stick truly is an agent of great pain, the stick is a beautiful creation. Something that everyone who truly wishes to practice with the ultimate Dan B**g that made Kong Shin Bup a devastating art. What started out as a frayed Rattan stick that BECAME Ugly over time, is now even more devastating in the hands of a skilled practitioner.
Here is where GM Janisse truly shines. Over the past number of decades, he traveled with me around the globe as my assistant, and he learned the old fashioned way. As any good apprentice Master, he FELT the techniques I shared in workshops, and we ALL know that there is no better way to learn.
So, it is with great pride that I hand down the art AND THE CRAFT of the UGLY Stick, to the Master who earned the right to be my successor of the art of Kong Shin Bup. Thank you Grandmaster Kevin Janisse, for keeping the art of Kong Shin Bup alive, and for making the Ugly Stick what I envisioned it to be.
I have one more small adjustment to the FINAL version of the Ugly Stick I'd like you to consider, and we will discuss that when we next meet.
Along with passing to you the art of KSB, I hand over to you the StickMaster organization AND the production of the Ugly Stick. I strongly encourage my followers on this page to contact GM Janisse to order YOUR Ugly Stick, and perhaps even to invite him to share with you some of THE nastiest Dan B**g techniques in existence today. It is a combination of Ancient techniques, made more devastating with my love for wood working, and arriving at its final version through the hands of my student's skills with modern machinery. WELL Done Sajanim II :)
Expect GM Janisse to introduce himself shortly!
