Forest The Canoe

Forest The Canoe Guided paddling trips, camping adventures, and nature experiences on Lake Superior. Based in Goulais River, just north of Sault Ste. Why Choose Forest The Canoe?

Marie, we help everyday explorers connect with the wild beauty of Northern Ontario. Forest The Canoe is your gateway to unforgettable outdoor experiences in the rugged beauty of Northern Ontario. Marie, we offer guided nature tours, backcountry camping trips, and seasonal adventures that make it easy for everyday outdoor enthusiasts to connect with the land, the water, and each other. We embrace all the “True North” has to offer—windswept shorelines, towering pines, foggy mornings on the lake, and the joy of sitting around a campfire after a day well spent. At the heart of it all is our belief in creating meaningful connections between people, place, and the natural world through interpretation, education, and shared experience. Whether you're a curious first-timer or a seasoned camper looking to unplug and go deeper, we’ll meet you where you’re at—with approachable guides, thoughtfully designed trips, and a big welcome into our community. We’re not here to summit mountains or chase records (unless the record is who can pack the best camp snacks). We’re here to make the outdoors feel accessible, authentic, and deeply rewarding. Our trips are thoughtfully guided, our experiences are rooted in respect for the land and local history, and our vibe is always welcoming. We work closely with organizations like Algoma Highlands Conservancy, and Lake Superior Watershed Conservancy, and we’re proud to be part of a growing community of guides, educators, and nature lovers who care deeply about this place. Whether you're booking a half-day kayak tour on Lake Superior, joining a multi-day camping trip under the northern lights, or just looking for the best route to paddle with your dog, we’re here to help you feel at home outside.

GPS has become a pretty standard part of getting outside—but knowing how to use it well is a whole different skill.

Join us September 26 for Everyday GPS: Understanding Modern Navigation, a hands-on session where we’ll connect GPS technology with modern software, route planning, safety, and real-world outdoor use.

Whether you're heading into the backcountry, planning routes, working in the field, or just want to stop wondering why your little blue dot is over there… this one's for you.

Sound on.

The fire crackling. The lake lapping. The trees doing their thing.

Summer isn’t over yet — and there’s still plenty of time to get out there.

Whether you’re looking for a few hours on the water or a few days deep in the backcountry, our canoe, kayak and SUP rentals can get you there. We even have all the equipment to outfit your camping trip.

Pack a lunch. Pack the camping gear. Or pack absolutely nothing but a good excuse to get outside.

There’s still summer left. Come paddle with us!

Forest The Canoe is taking a little time off.

We’re closing for a week to go camping, fishing, paddling, and generally doing a little less of the “work” part of being outside.

The canoe is coming, obviously. We have standards.

We’ll be back soon — hopefully with some great stories, a little more sun on our faces, and plenty of time spent doing exactly what we love.

We are closed August 16 - 22.

See you soon.

The weekend is here, and the water is calling.

Maybe it's chasing a Lake Superior sunset from a paddle board. Maybe it's a winding river, a quiet bay, or your first time in a canoe.

However you choose to spend it, there's something special about ending the day on the water.

Rent a board, canoe or kayak, join a guided tour, or simply come paddle with us.
