U of S Swing Dance Club

We are a campus club at the University of Saskatchewan committed to Swing Dancing; A style of dances practiced in the '20s-40s.

We are open to everyone whether you are new to dance or experienced, and are accepting of all bodies and identities. We will be teaching weekly classes and offering time to just dance! Class times will run about one hour with an additional hour and a half of practice/social dancing with DJ'd music afterwards.

We’re excited to welcome guest instructor Vicky Yeung for a special workshop day on Saturday March 21 at Dance Ink!

This is a great opportunity to learn from an experienced dancer and instructor known for her dynamic teaching and knowledge of Lindy Hop. Come expand your dance repertoire and refine your technique. Both new and experienced dancers will be able to learn something new!

Join us our Blues Night on Feb 27! 🎶

There will be a Beginner Blues Lesson at 7PM and social dancing with both Blues and Lindy music! Beginner and intermediate Lindy Hop lessons will be cancelled due to the special lesson.

If you haven’t tried Blues yet, this is a great chance to learn a different style! Blues dancing focuses on slow grounded movements, musicality, connection, and personal expression. We encourage dancers of all skill levels to attend!

Thank you to everyone who came out and represented our club this past Saturday! A huge shoutout to Kaitlyn B and Kaitlyn O for leading the mini lesson, and to Corwyn and Wren for putting on a fantastic demo.

And of course, a big thank you to the U of S Jazz Ensemble and the big bands for putting together another amazing event as always. We’re looking forward to next year!

Join us every Friday for Lindy Hop beginner & intermediate lessons from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by social dancing.

🎭 We’re also excited to be part of the U of S Jazz Ensemble’s Masquerade on Feb 7, with a short lesson at 7:40 PM and demo. Check out our last post for details!

As always, no partner or experience required. Just bring non-marking shoes and some water. See you on the dance floor!

We are happy to announce we will be doing a short lesson and demo at The Masquerade this year! This is a great opportunity to enjoy a night full of live music from classic big band swing to contemporary jazz favourites. This event welcomes everyone- dancers, jazz enjoyers, and first time listeners- and makes for a fun and memorable evening!

All proceeds will go to supporting the U of S Jazz Ensemble!
