Summer memories are worth keeping. Those extra sun spots? Let’s talk about your options. ☀️

Have you noticed more freckles or darker spots since last winter? I know I have! Saskatchewan summers are short, and enjoying the sunshine is part of what makes them special. 💛

If you’re concerned about pigmentation, a consultation is a helpful place to start. We’ll discuss your skin concerns, review whether professional laser or light-based treatments may be appropriate, and help you understand what options may be available. Because different types of pigmentation can require different approaches, treatment suitability depends on your individual skin and goals.

In the meantime, daily sun protection can help reduce further sun-related pigmentation. Choose a broad-spectrum SPF 50, seek shade, wear a hat, and reapply when outdoors. A tinted sunscreen containing iron oxides may also help protect against visible light, which can contribute to worsening pigmentation.

This is the skincare regime I’ve been using for a few months now and my skin loves it! It’s safe for my 44-year-old, oily, acne-prone skin and perfect for prepping for laser and light treatments that I can start again once my tan has faded.

You’ll notice, I didn’t post sunscreen, my go-to is no longer available in Canada, but here’s a great option:

You’ll want tinted, mineral sunscreen for the best protection.

You can follow this skincare regime for pre- and post- laser/light treatments. Follow your immediate aftercare as it may vary, but these products will support your skin barrier without a bunch of harsh actives that keep your skin inflamed and reactive.

There are a few specific add-ins we might recommend for a breakout or melasma, but those concerns can also be aggravated by too many harsh products. These pictures are almost exactly a year apart. Both in August after a summer full of sun, exploring, too much booze and bad food. The difference between them? Regular fractional resurfacing, regular IPL for pigment and vascularity, regular jawline contouring and promoting my skin’s barrier health over harsh actives like retinol, vitamin C, too many acids etc.
