Seven Stars Taijiquan club offers two forms of Taiji , Chen and Yang styles, in the traditional manner. This involves realizing that every movement can be related to self defense as a martial art, and that without this basic understanding the forms become meaningless, and lose their ability to transmit the meditative and health giving aspects of the art to the full. When the posture has been under

stood on a basic level and become a centering device, the practice involves finding where the energy for the posture comes from, and how to direct it. Regular classes resume on Sunday 11th January, ( 12:45 to 2:45pm) for all, Mondays at 6.30pm for Chen style, and Tuesdays at 6.30pm for Yang style. Beginners can come to any or all of these classes, the first one free. Osman Phillips has been studying taiji for over 30 years, and has taught in the UK, France and Spain as well as the USA and Canada. He is particularly interested in the energetic and meditative aspects of the art as they relate to everyday life.

Our Fall Season starts this weekend! Please note the changes.

Tim Hayes will be teaching the Sunday morning classes, beginning on Sept. 23rd, usually at 10:30am, but note a 1pm start on Sept. 30th and Nov. 25th. This class is for all levels of Tai Chi. Check the times on the first page of the website.

Osman Phillips will lead the applications class on Monday evenings for 10 weeks beginning on Sept. 24th at 6:45pm. Anyone can come to this class to deepen their understanding of the art. Dr Chi, one of my teachers noted that applications and push hands made up 2/3 of the entire Tai Chi curriculum.

At 6.15pm on Monday evenings, 30 mins before Osman's class, Alexandra Hasenfratz will teach a Chen style sword form. Swords are available. She can be reached at ahasenfratz[at]gmail[dot]com.

Rumi Kanesaka will teach a beginners and Intermediate class on Thursday evenings at 6:30pm beginning on Sept. 13th. She will be teaching the Yang style short form as taught by Cheng Man Ch'ing. This is a beautiful form and a perfect starting point.

Rumi will also lead a silk reeling exercise class, for the first three weeks at 5:00pm on Thursdays beginning on 13th. These classes will resume in November at 10:30am on Tuesdays, beginning on Nov. 6th and continuing to Dec. 11th.

All the times are on the calendar on the first page of the cedarlanestudio.com website.

Please share this on to anyone who may be interested.

Osman Phillips will resume Monday night classes, starting September 24th for a 10-week period.

These classes are an investigation of the Tai Chi principles as they relate to practical use in self defense. This is carried out using "sticking " and softness rather than force. The safety of your partner is primary. No experience is necessary.

All levels are welcome including beginners. Primarily the classes will concentrate on Yang style. Hope you will be able to make it. Fall classes will be announced later.
