Hello Yukon Tennis Community!

I wanted to introduce myself, my name is Wallis Thomson. I am Tennis Yukon's tennis instructor and program coordinator this year. I will be arriving in Whitehorse tomorrow for the first time and I am so excited to be a part of this community in a unique way.

Some background about myself... I have been playing tennis for 15 years. It is my passion. My professional and personal goal is to inspire a lifelong passion for the game. I got my instructor certificate in 2014 and started coaching juniors right way. I have taught all ages from 5 year-olds who have never touched a racquet to 70 year-olds who have been playing for most of their lives. This summer, I will be completing my Club Pro 1 certification in Vancouver. I am so grateful to be able to keep developing my skills as a coach and as a player.

Some quick tennis fun facts about me:

Favourite player : Carlos Alcaraz (I mean, who doesn't love his passion for the sport?)

Favourite type of tennis: Cardio Tennis (it is soooo fun and I love listening to music while playing)
and doubles (because I love highfiving).

Tennis ick : When a player doesn't bounce the ball before serving (that's just crazy).

This tournament was an absolute pleasure to host! The Women's Doubles Equinox Tournament was held on March 21-23, 2025.We had local snacks, wines, cheeses, coffee and of course, played a bunch of tennis 😄
