Who gets a bad case of the mondays?

If I don’t have a busy/packed schedule on Monday it usually feels squandered. Whether it’s a recovery day from a busy ass weekend or overwhelmed by a big todo list; Monday can feel like a real witch.

Today I did something new. How about shifting the expectations?
“Try” a load of laundry.
“Try” a load of dishes.
“Try” a workout
“Try” breakfast.

Honestly its the same expectations I set for the kids. I don’t need perfect but I need to try before I say “I can’t” and oddly enough it worked! (Go figure!). While I got rid of the expectation ( AND PERFECTIONISM). I accomplished MORE than I would have otherwise anticipated.

Constantly pedal to the metal because WHAT IF I take it down half a notch? I’ll lose momentum. I won’t see success or results. I’m a loser. I’m a failure. No one will like me. I’m not doing my best. I’m not good enough. I’m not doing enough. I’m not enough.

How many times have you told yourself that over and over and over again? Because it wasn’t PERFECT every single time.

Followed my own intuition this morning and did some yoga. I am not certified, I did not follow a video and I did whatever tf i wanted in this practice. Felt good to breath, move and challenge myself.

I am graceful, I am kind, I am forgiving and I am acceptance.

Today was showing up for myself, whatever that looked like in the moment.

and workout completed. But I want to share something that isn’t often talked about.

The grief you experience when you come back to your exercise routine. Whether it’s an injury, having a baby, shady mental health (me), or some other reason why. It’s ok to grieve the level of strength you used to have. I know today I grieved the things I used to do and the things I could do without breaks or modification. Or the discipline in my nutrition and choosing foods that serve my body and not to soothe my mind. I’ve been reminiscing old photos of my athleticism and how healthy my mind (and body) used to be.

It’s not a shame game or moments to count the reasons why I am where I am but it’s just reminding myself of what was possible and where I’m working back towards.

If this is you too; I see you and there is no shame in where you are now. You will rebuild your strength and mind again. I know you will.
