Hello Ice Surfers Nation,
We are officially into June, which means we are now just one month away from the start of our July summer camp season! The excitement is building quickly as our players are excited, our staff is excited, and I can honestly say I’m just as excited as everyone else to get back on the ice this summer.
This offseason has been a huge period of growth for Ice Surfers Hockey Academy. We have added many new faces to our staff while also welcoming back a lot of familiar faces from previous summers. Our team has grown tremendously with new on-ice helpers, camp counsellors, supervisors, and support staff all joining the program. Everyone is eager to get started and help make this our best summer yet.
This summer, players can expect a fresh Ice Surfers experience with new leadership workshops, new training games, exciting on and off-ice activities, and plenty of opportunities to build friendships, create lasting memories, and continue developing their skills both on and off the ice.
We are also extremely excited to announce a new partnership with KYC Hockey! They will be providing sticks for our Ice Surfers players to try out throughout their week at camp. Players will have the opportunity to test new and upcoming stick models during our July summer camps. I have personally been using KYC sticks over the last few months and absolutely love them, so I’m very excited for our players to experience them as well.
I also wanted to give everyone a quick update on upcoming announcements and registration opportunities. This week I will be leaving to compete at the 3v3 Ball Hockey World Championships for team Canada, so while I am away from my computer, please be patient as responses to emails may take a couple extra days.
Once I return home from Worlds, we will be releasing our full summer ice session schedule. These will be one-hour specialty sessions held throughout the summer, each with a specific development focus such as power skating, skill development, shooting techniques, and other specialized areas of the game. We expect to release between 12–15 sessions over the coming weeks.
Following that, we will also be opening registration for our U15 Tryout Prep Camp. We are excited to continue building off the success of this camp over the last two seasons by helping players prepare for upcoming tryouts and teaching them what it takes to stand out and put their best foot forward toward reaching their hockey goals.
We still have limited availability remaining in our summer camps as well. At this time, we are looking for U9 and U13 goalies, along with a few remaining player spots in our August 10–14 summer camp.
Overall, this is shaping up to be an incredibly exciting summer filled with development, friendships, hard work, and unforgettable experiences. My staff and I cannot wait to get started.
If anyone has questions, would like to register, or would like to learn more about Ice Surfers Hockey Academy, please send us an email!
See you all soon,
Alex Drover
