The ancient art of Marma Chikitsa 🌿🇮🇳
I felt deeply called to travel to India to study this ancient Ayurvedic healing modality at its roots, with the intention of deepening my knowledge, expanding my practice, and continuing to grow in the ways I can support my Ayurvedic clients and Yoga students.
Marma Chikitsa, or Marma Therapy, is an ancient healing practice rooted in Ayurveda that works with marma points, vital energetic centres throughout the body where prana (life-force energy) flows. Through gentle, intentional touch and stimulation of these points, this sacred practice encourages the harmonious flow of prana, restores balance, and supports the body’s innate capacity for healing.
What an incredible honour it was to study one-on-one Anahata Ayurveda Rishikesh with two incredible Ayurvedic doctors, Dr. Shreejit & Dr. Rohit🙏🏼
My mornings were spent immersed in the theory and wisdom of Marma Chikitsa with Dr. Rohit, while my afternoons were dedicated to hands-on practice under the guidance of Dr. Shreejit. A special thank you to all of the lovely therapists at Anahata who so graciously allowed me to practice on them as I learned!
Beyond my studies, I had the privilege of receiving authentic Ayurvedic treatments throughout my stay, including many Abhyanga & Marma Therapy sessions, allowing me to authentically experience this beautiful art firsthand and deepen my understanding from the perspective of both practitioner and recipient.
Every day I enjoyed lovingly prepared Ayurvedic meals by the talented chef at Anahata that kept my digestive fire strong and thus my mind clear and open to receive. In Ayurveda, wellbeing truly derives not from any one treatment or herb, but rather, is woven into the way we eat and cook, in our daily routines or dynacharya, in proper rest, and in the way we think 🌱
I look forward to continuing to study, practice, and refine this beautiful modality, and when the time is right, to sharing its gifts with my community.
Thank you Anahata Ayurveda Rishikesh for the wisdom, the nourishment, and for making a place so far from home feel like home by treating me like family🥹🤍
