The 2026 Liddiard Memorial: A TOTAL SUCCESS!!!
This year’s Liddiard Memorial raised $71,987.03, surpassing last year’s total amount raised, and inspiring Niagara Youth Need Sports to set our target even higher for next year.
We are grateful to everyone who helped ensure the weekend was a resounding success. The impact of our donors reaches far beyond one special event in September. In 2026 alone, NYNS contributed more than $80,000 towards youth enrollment in organized sports, equipment costs, and tournament fees, and all thanks to the generosity of its donors. For hundreds of families across Niagara, this financial support makes participation possible. When children have the chance to join a team, build leadership skills, and learn how to believe in themselves, they grow stronger. And so does Niagara.
This year we welcome Patrick Doody of Canada Paint Contractors as the newest Director of Niagara Youth Need Sports. Patrick has been a supporter of NYNS since the very beginning and ensures the Liddiard Memorial is always entertaining (you can find him behind the DJ booth when Kevin hasn’t grabbed the microphone). Patrick joins Michael and Kevin as Directors, alongside Justin Hawksbee, Matt Attwood, Brandi Keating, and Bryan Bazylewski, your NYNS executives. As always, Doris Liddiard puts it all together with a smile and a hug.
Countless other volunteers make the tournament a success, together with our Vendors. A special note to Maybees Backyard BBQ who has achieved NYNS Diamond status with over $5,000 in donated funds.
Congratulations to the Afterhours Lacrosse Club for clinching the Memorial Championship. This exceptional group of talented athletes show true leadership and professionalism on and off the floor. The Afterhours club supports lacrosse players across Niagara to reach the heights of athletic excellence and their commitment to the community is far reaching. We’re grateful for the energy and support they brought to the weekend, as with all of our participants, coaches, and referees.
This is more than a tournament…
It's about a child who gets to put on their first jersey.
It's about a young athlete who gets to stay on their team when finances are tight.
It's about friendships, confidence, resilience, discipline, teamwork and memories that last a lifetime.
