The weather is finally cooperating, and this means that we will soon be on the course hollering "fore " but probably recording " eight".
The 2015 Board of the SGCC.

Jack Drover will be the link from the course to the Board, while Stephen Boorne will do the same for the Clubhouse.
Employees 2015.
Clubhouse - Sue Stokes will be the manager, Nika Shaw will be returning, and a third person will be hired. Jason Strathern will be providing professional financial service again this year.
Course - Kevin Read will be the consultant, Peter Hicks and Tim Wheaton providing course maintenance, and a part time person will be hired as needed. Brian Estabrooks will return with his primary responsibility being - equipment service and maintenance.
Maintaining the fairways.
A " new to us " fairway mower has been purchased. We also will be getting a vertical cutting unit included with the purchase. The VCU will help provide better quality greens.
Course condition update/ clubhouse preparation.
Work started on all fronts on Monday past. The greens have been mowed, some tarped, are being watered, and it appears that they survived the winter of 2015 better than that of 2014. If you are interested in helping, please pop out to the course at your convenience, bring a rake, make some piles, and they will be picked up and removed by Peter or Tim. We had hoped to have a clean up day, but feel it is better to proceed this way at this time.
Website and Facebook
The Board has approved hiring a professional agency to development and then manage its website. GolfNB no longer does this. Also, for those of you on Facebook, google Sackville Golf and Country Club. Keith O'Donnell had developed this last year and most recently Judi McLellan.
Membership fees 2015.
The Board has had three meetings and at its most recent meeting carefully reviewed the fee structure for members, and the rates for non members. This information will be circulated soon. You may be aware that the Shareholders requested a special meeting in July 2014. At that meeting a committee was formed with the task to prepare and present a " sustainable operational plan for the SGCC." The Committee presented its report, its recommendations were considered, and the operational plan for 2015 incorporates some of the committee's recommendations. Along with an adjustment in the staffing model, a key recommendation was to establish a fee that would be restricted to and directed to purchasing /replacing course maintenance equipment, power carts and related. This fee has been built into the 2015 budget that was approved at the AGM of the Club. It is $50.00 and again will be used only for the purposes indicated. The reality is that purchasing course maintenance equipment, replacing carts, and related was done based on " funds available ". Unfortunately these funds have not been available in recent years. We now have a plan in place to resolve this.
Course opening for play in 2015.
At this time , it is only a guess, so we feel it better to say that barring unforeseen that we hope it will be the week of May 18. Last year we opened on May 16 with some temporary greens. Again some greens may be temporary as we get started.
We look forward to seeing you at the Clubhouse and on the course soon. Feel free to drop by.
