Message from the Wellness Centre General Manager:
I hope everyone is starting to recover from the hurricane, it was like nothing I've ever experienced!! I'd like to acknowledge Mayor McKenna, Spencer Allen, Town Council, the Lions Club and everyone else who helped with the warming centre in the days following Fiona. What you did for the community was remarkable to see.
I want to give a quick update on the Wellness Centre. The Wellness Centre is still on track for our opening on October 31st, this will be with partial building occupancy. There is still lots to do and there will continue to be lots to do, but our goal of getting children back onto the ice for October 31st is getting closer by the day. Internet is being installed on Tuesday, October 11th, this will be followed by rink cool down, boards and glass installation and the ice making process.
We are planning a special first skate for the facility in the afternoon of October 30th 2022, with the grand opening taking place in the spring. We are inviting all children from the surrounding 13 communities to come out and be the first on the ice on October 30th - there will be a capacity limit that we are currently working on with our safety inspectors. If you have a child that is interested in attending this event, please contact myself via email at [email protected]
Also, here is a sneak peek of the new fitness centre https://johnsonfit.box.com/s/aayq3djrzu0s9rbvhx185gax5uol9u8f Membership opportunities will be released in the upcoming weeks.
Thank you all for your continued support and patience, I look forward to seeing you all in the upcoming weeks.
