My shoulder is fine and I'm not making anybody use a Zebco on my boat this season. Happy April Fool's.
That being said last season was our best walleye and pike season ever and I really did lose track of how many 100 fish days we had. We even had a few 100 fish half days. A high percentage of groups booked twice last year given how good the fishing was and many are already on my 2026 calendar.
Bookings are coming in daily. It's shaping up to be another great season. Here are some 2025 highlights.
Cheers.

We had a wildly successful 2025 season. I lost track of how many 100+ fish days we had. Days like that take a toll on a guide. We were actually TOO successful. After a particularly good day of walleye fishing last year, I started feeling a sharp pain in my right shoulder. It came and went throughout the last part of my season and my ice bungalow season. After an MRI last week, it was determined that I have a torn AFL (Apereli Fulifuli Ligament) in my right shoulder caused by netting too many fish. What does that mean? Unfortunately, I won't be able to net my clients' fish for at least the first month of my 2026 season. Furthermore, having to cast lefty, spinning rods are out of the question. Luckily, Zebco has stepped up huge with a sponsorship deal. As of this May all my clients will have the privilege of fishing with nothing but the finest Zebco 202 combos. Spooled with finely aged, hyper coiled, high diameter 10 lbs monofilament, the challenge of catching an 18" pike with this set up is one I'm sure all my guests will appreciate.
See you all soon!
Cheers.

Small boat. Short ride. Big fish! Viva Mexico!
Just got back from the opposite of ice bungalow season. The boy got himself a good one!
Got some sap to boil and some gobbles to listen to, then it's fish o'oclock.
Cheers.

My yearly hommage to Blink 182. "The tour was over, we survived". 58 days of bungalow season ended today when JB Towing left Pigeon St with hut #3. Minus some costly repairs to a variety of equipment and the usual unforeseeable challenges, I'll consider it a successful season. The weather played nice, the fishing was ok, and the ice road was mint for almost the entire season thanks to the help of some hut neighbors.
Thank you to my loyal yearly patrons and all the new guests I met this winter. 53 days until turkey season and then we get the Princecraft wet! Looking forward to having you aboard for year 16 of guiding.
Cheers

There are no problems, only challenges. Ice bunagalow season presents its share of challenges. Maintaining an ice road is one of them. After the mess the weather left last week and a handful of locals who don't care what the road looks like tomorrow as long as they can 4x4 their way through today, I had a "little joy" moment last night driving back from my nightly check in on renters. She's wider than a city street and just about right down to the ice.
Fish caught every day so far. Every day we have a little less availability, but some weekdays and Sunday afternoons remain.
See you out there.
Cheers.

Ice bungalows 2026 here we go! We had a decent opening weekend in spite of wildly unstable weather. My ice road got its butt kicked but this snow today and cold tonight will be great for fixing it.
Our weekends are filling up but we do have a big hut available on Friday January 23rd as well as room on most Sundays for a noon to 8pm rental. Some weekends available for the last half of February.
Walleye, sauger, ling. Even a few channel cats last weekend.
Day rental: $225 total
Weeknight: $100pp
Weekend night: $140pp
Full weekend: :$275pp.
Cheers!

Full weekends are $275pp, weeknights are $100pp and day rentals are $225 total.
We hope to be fully operational by mid-January but hopefully sooner.
Cheers.

Two months of wildly good walleye fishing culminated today with a 120 walleye day with good clients. What a way to wrap up another season on the Ottawa River...probably.

I've always been a numbers guy. I like catching a big fish as much as the next guy but not at the expense of losing hours of enjoyment catching lots of less big fish (except when I'm musky fishing). I think that approach suits the bulk my target clientele to a tee. This year has been the best year of fishing I've ever had. I can count my tough trips on one hand. I've lost track of how many 100 fish days we've had. Not a lot of giant fish but days full of lots of fish big enough to be fun. I'll post a pic of this morning's bounty. 2 limits of good eater walleye. I could post one or two identical photos for just about every day for the last month. As always, fishing with family is the best and my daughter stole the show when I was able to enjoy an afternoon on a hot bite with the wife and kids. Also, we got a weird grey walleye yesterday.
All we have left for September are the 11th, 17th, 22nd, and 24th if you'd like in on the fun.
Cheers.

After what was probably my slowest evening musky trip ever Friday night, enthusiasm for musky fishing was awfully low for a Saturday morning trip but a 43" beat up warrior turned that around. Tonight, birthday boy Max landed a 40" musky on the troll and then got a 45" on a topwater. 3 good ones in our last 2 trips. 'Tis the season.
Cheers.
