Reed brings exactly what we want in a Royal, a big strong skater who can make plays, score goals, and isn’t afraid to play a physical game. He’s a hard worker, a great character player both on and off the ice, and above all else, a born leader.

The Rimbey Royals are preparing for Main Camp, August 27th–30th at the Vern Poffenroth Arena in Rimbey, AB.
We’re looking for players aged 17–21, along with local area U18s, who are ready to compete, develop and prove they belong.
This is about more than building one roster.
WE’RE BUILDING A PIPELINE.
Our goal is to create opportunities for players in our region and beyond — whether that means earning a spot on the Royals roster now, developing as an affiliate, or becoming part of the future of Royals hockey.

We are looking for Four 2005’s, minimal fees! If you’re a 05 player looking for a leadership role and a $3500 scholarship award, become ROYAL! 05’s and 06’s please DM your elite prospects profile. Open to signing players!

👑 WELCOME TO THE ROYALS, GARRETT DICK! 👑

The Rimbey Royals are proud to officially introduce Garrett Dick as our Director of Hockey Operations & Associate Coach.

A former HJHL player himself, Garrett has been a driving force behind bringing Junior Hockey back to Rimbey. Born and raised on a farm east of Ponoka, Garrett played minor hockey with Ponoka, Camrose and the East Central Chill before finishing his playing career with the Ponoka Stampeders of the Heritage Junior Hockey League in the early 2000s.

Garrett’s competitive background extends well beyond the rink. He competed in Steer Wrestling with the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association before building a 19-year career as a pipeline welder, including work on the Trans Mountain Pipeline.

In 2023, Garrett and his family took on a new challenge with the creation of Power Zone Athletics. What started as Garrett’s dream has become a way to help athletes and community members pursue their own goals through stronger, healthier lifestyles. His passion for developing young athletes has also led to hockey camps in Rimbey and Ponoka over the past three years, along with hockey tryout evaluations for Ponoka Minor Hockey.

Now, Garrett brings that same work ethic, leadership and commitment to building the Rimbey Royals.

A few words from Garrett:

“First, I would like to thank my family. Their support has been incredible. I would also like to thank all of the Royals sponsors supporting the Royals and Junior Hockey in Rimbey, the Town of Rimbey, and our Royals Board Members and supporters. This wouldn’t be happening without you.

NICK “BIG RIG” FITZPATRICK Nick Fitzpatrick

The Rimbey Royals are excited to welcome Nick
Fitzpatrick to the organization as the Royals
STRENGTH COACH & SCOUT.

Driven by PASSION & PERFORMANCE

Nick grew up in Fairview, Alberta, where hockey became a major part of his life from an early age. He captured two Provincial Gold Medals and one Provincial Silver, played AAA hockey with the North Country Stars, and at just 14 years old travelled to Europe to represent Canada in an international tournament.

His hockey career later took him to Grande Prairie, where he played Bantam AAA and Midget AAA with the Storm before making the jump to Junior hockey at only 16.
Nick spent six seasons in the NWJHL, representing Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge and Whitecourt, where he became known as a player that would protect his teammates, bringing toughness, grit, physicality and a willingness to stand up for his teammates every night.

He followed that with three seasons of Senior AA hockey, representing Spirit River, Manning and Hythe, including winning the Campbell Cup Championship with the Spirit River Rangers of the NPHL.

Away from the rink, Nick has spent the last 15 years working on drilling rigs in the Alberta oilfield, building a life around hard work, long days and getting the job done.

And he still isn’t done competing.

Today, Nick competes in Bare Knuckle Ice Wars. A true challenge of grit & toughness and the Royals are proud supporters. Nick now brings that experience back to the rink with the Royals. His knowledge of the physical side of hockey, competitive mentality and understanding of what it means to protect and battle for your teammates will be a valuable addition to our players and organization.

From Northern Alberta, to representing Canada overseas, Junior and Senior hockey, championships, the drilling rigs and Bare Knuckle Ice Wars — BIG RIG has built his reputation on grit, toughness, work ethic and never backing down.

Now he’s bringing his passion to Rimbey.
