Carbs have such a bad rep, but carbs themselves are not (usually) the reason for weight gain.

When is the last time you had plain pasta noodles? Bread or toast with no butter or peanut butter? Pizza with no cheese? Completely plain potatoes?

Most of the carbs that come to mind while we’re demonizing them are smothered in high fat toppings and spreads.

High calorie foods, eaten in excess, is what causes weight gain. NOT carbs on their own.

But, if you REALLY want to blame a macronutrient, blame fat… Fat has 9 calories per gram, while carbs (and protein) only have four.
