Imagine that you opened up the end of your grip and poured sand into the shaft of your wedge. Now, take a few practice strokes but don’t let any of the sand fall out, meaning that you aren’t tipping the club over so the head is higher than the grip. This is especially important on the follow through & finish.
One important concept this drill teaches you is that our follow through should always be shorter than our backswing. Why? Because contact with the ball and the ground takes energy away from the club. Understanding this removes our instinct to accelerate through the ball & rush our swings.
