Summer certainly showed its beautiful side yesterday, bringing warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine. Before the start, the park was buzzing with conversation as participants caught up with friends, chatted about upcoming races, and enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere that makes parkrun so special.

Whether you walked, jogged, ran, volunteered, or cheered from the sidelines, thank you for being part of another fantastic Saturday morning.

🦺VOLUNTEER MILESTONE MELTION🦺

This week we’re celebrating Leroy on achieving an incredible 25+ volunteers with parkrun!

Leroy’s passion for running has taken him around the world. Over the years, he has completed over 25 marathons and 22 ultra marathons, including South Africa’s renowned Two Oceans Ultra Marathon and City2City Ultra Marathon, as well as the London Marathon. This year, came full circle when he watched his daughter cross the finish line in the London Marathon, continuing the family’s running legacy.

Since joining our community beginning in South Africa, Leroy has completed an impressive 193 parkruns and has become a familiar and welcoming face at Wascana. Many first-time participants will recognize him as the voice behind our First Timers Welcome, helping newcomers feel comfortable and included from the moment they arrive.

Beyond parkrun mornings, Leroy is an active member of the Regina Running Room Club and has also volunteered his time supporting our community at the QCM booth.

Thank you, Leroy, for your enthusiasm, dedication, and the warm welcome you provide to so many people each week. We are grateful to have you as part of the Wascana parkrun family. 💙👏

The weather understood the assignment this morning.

A beautiful Saturday at Wascana parkrun brought out 84 participants ready to run, walk, jog, volunteer, and enjoy the sunshine before Saskatchewan remembers it’s allowed to rain again.

Today’s highlights:
🎉 19 Personal Bests
👋 8 First Timers
🏅 1 Milestone
🌎 1 Visitor from out of town

With numbers like that, we suspect the nice weather may have been performance-enhancing 😉

As we celebrate Pride Week, we’re proud that parkrun continues to be a place where everyone is welcome. Whether you’re chasing a PB, walking with friends, volunteering, or joining us for the very first time, there’s a place for you here. 🌈

Another great location is launching in time for summer! We might be biased, but travel plans are always more fun when you find a parkrun!

We are thrilled to share that our New Brunswick parkrun family is growing from two to three on June 20th with the launch of Mill Creek Nature parkrun in Riverview, just outside Moncton. Spread the word and let's pack this inaugural event with energy, smiles and high fives!

Whether you're motivated by a jog in nature, eager for a social walk with friends, or inspired to volunteer, there's a place for you in the parkrun community!

Launch date: Saturday, June 20, 2026
Where: Mill Creek Nature park
Time: 9:00 a.m. (show up earlier!)
