DIRECTOR DOWN-LOW with MISS AMBER 📣

Hmmmm.... where to start? Well, you have already been filled in on all the tea surrounding our staff this year! As you can see, there have been lots of changes... while we are definitely feeling the absence of those moving on, we are also so excited about the new and returning faces joining us this season. Luckily, somehow things always seem to work out exactly as they should.

The studio itself has once again kept me on my toes BUT there have been some big wins too! After nearly a year without a functioning kitchen, we had an amazing crew come in and put it back together for us! (I will detail this in a later post). As for the rest, let's just say that owning an old building continues to build character 🤪

This summer, I tried to take a page out of the playbook of my son and "Summer Max".... meaning say yes, make the plans, spend time with the people I love and squeeze out as many experiences as possible.
I tackled a top-20-in-the-world mountain hike and canoed on beautiful Cameron Lake in Waterton, explored Waskesiu with my family, took my kids and met up with a few cherished old friends at an Everclear concert, hung out with our dancers at summer camp and found plenty of happiness right in my own backyard with my dogs and cats ... it's been a pretty great summer.

As cliché as it sounds, I really am excited about everything this year! Seeing and dancing with the kids again, creating new routines, launching a brand new competition, watching our staff grow & flourish, and seeing what our 21st year has in store...

I am soooo grateful that I get to do what I love with the people I love! Thank you so much to everyone who has been, and continues to be on this journey with me 💕

BEYOND THE BARRE with our Photographer Jen Gervais

I kicked off the summer with a photography retreat in Wisconsin, surrounded by good friends, lots of laughs, and some new faces that quickly became friends. 🤍

Summer kept me pretty busy with weddings, but I still managed to squeeze in plenty of fun along the way.

We celebrated Harlow’s birthday in Regina, spent a weekend at the Winkler Harvest Festival with my bestie Michelle (and somehow ended up meeting Jackson Dean 🤠) ...and may have added another friend tattoo along the way. 😁
In August, my sister and brother-in-law came for a visit, and Zuma and Harlow headed back to Calgary with them for a two-week road trip through Alberta and BC making some memories of their own.

And somewhere in the middle of all of that, I took a pretty big step in my little photography world and officially rebranded my business to J.E.M Images — a name that feels much more like me for this next chapter.

A summer full of work, adventures, people I love, new memories and a few new beginnings.
A pretty damn good summer. ✨

NEXT STEPS with MISS HAYLEY 👟

Since I left Canada in May, I've been exploring Vietnam. I thought I was going to be hopping around the country, exploring and seeing new things... but instead I found myself on another path.

Since bestie Ayla left me and went back to Canada in June, I have settled into Da Nang and found myself trying some new things and evolving the things I already know. I picked up pole dancing when I first got here, and shortly after, I found myself performing pole dance as well as hip hop, jazz funk and go-go dancing at a popular performance club in Da Nang called New Phuong D**g!

You could say that I am living out my performer life dreams. 😝
I've also been teaching choreography dance classes at a studio called GGspacy which has been so amazing!

As of right now, I don't know exactly where this path is taking me but it has shone light on where I want to go, and what I want to do. I hope to continue performing as a freelance dancer, as well as running choreography workshops, and learning more pole dance! In saying that, I'm not limiting myself to just Vietnam 😉, there is much more to come and I am so excited to see where these passions will take me.

Miss you with my whole heart, Artemis fam... and I will be back at some point... with some new tricks. ✨

xo Love always,
Miss Hayley

This one is hard to put into words because Miss Hayley is so much more than a dance teacher at Artemis, she is also a dear friend. 💕

Her talent, creativity and the unique energy she brings to our studio will leave a pretty big hole around here. I will especially miss our Mondays together, bouncing ideas off one another, creating, and all the laughs that came along with it.

But as much as we are going to miss her, it's pretty hard to be sad when we are so genuinely jazzed that she has given herself the freedom to go off, have adventures and collect a million new crazy life experiences and memories 🥰

Also, let's be real, this isn't goodbye... we all know that she will miss us too much to stay away for too long and will return at some point 😛. If and when she finds her way back to us, we know she'll come back with even more stories, inspo and gifts to bring with her!

We will miss you like crazy but in the meantime, please live your adventurous little fancy-free life and we will be waiting to hear all about it 💕

NEXT STEPS with MISS MADI 👟

My next step is to attend the University of Saskatchewan to get a kinesiology degree to further pursue Physical Therapy. I'm really looking forward to living in a city and making some new friends in university.

That said, I am going to miss my team and friends at Artemis, and all my little dancers, and of course, my token name: Miss Madi.

I've had a great summer so far! I got to visit the East Coast, hang out with friends, go to the movies and see some fireworks. I also got the privilege of attending a dance workshop through a scholarship I received through En Pointe this past competition season! I got to work with Miss Morgan and Mister Kelly (our past De Feet adjudicator).

In addition to all that, I have also kept busy lifeguarding a whole bunch at the Redvers pool.

I would like to thank everyone for making me feel so loved and always welcome in the Artemis family. Grateful seems like too small of a word for this unmatched feeling!

To say that we are going to miss this kid is a huge understatement! Miss Madi is not just a beautiful dancer, but a beautiful soul. She shines a little extra light wherever she goes, and we have been so lucky to have her grow up as part of our Artemis family!

While we're excited to see where this next chapter takes her and will be supportive wherever that is, we would also like to note, that she would make one heck of a dance teacher one day 😝

Wishing you many great adventures Miss Madi - we will all be cheering you on along the way and please know that there will always be a place for you in the Artemis family 💕

FRESH FACES with MISS BRIELLE! 📸

We are excited to introduce the last, (but certainly not least) of our new faces at the studio: Miss Brielle!

Miss Brielle is 14 years old and is heading into Grade 10 at Redvers High School. Some of you may know her as the younger sister to her hockey playing brothers: Blaise & Bronx 😝

When she isn't dancing, Brielle loves playing volleyball and occupies her time with babysitting, lifeguarding and boating. It's safe to say that this girl likes to keep busy!

After being a part of Artemis for so many years as a dancer, it is very exciting to see Brielle step into a new role at the studio this season and share some of that experience with our youngest dancers!

Miss Brielle says she is excited to dance with her friends again and see her dance teachers again.... and I have to say, we are excited to see her too and are so happy yto have her joining our team this year! We think she will make a wonderful addition 💕

FRESH FACES with MISS HAYDEN 📸

We would like to introduce our second newbie: MISS HAYDEN!!!

Miss Hayden is currently heading into grade 11 at Redvers and is the youngest of three. She is a farm girlie through and through, growing up on her family farm just outside of Redvers.

Her interests and hobbies include a bit of everything... from dance (duh), volleyball, painting and crafting to photography, nursing, music, sports and travel. She loves being creative, staying active and most of all, spending time with the people she loves.

Friends and family play a very important role in Hayden's life. As the youngest in her family, she now gets to enjoy the role of being cool auntie to her nieces and nephew. We knew her caring nature would make her such a great fit for our tiniest dancers, who she'll be helping with on Tuesdays!

Miss Hayden says she feels honoured to be able to help our littles learn how to dance and help welcome them into the Artemis family. We know they will love her just as much as we do!

We're excited to have this girl on our team!!!

FRESH FACES with MISS HADLEY! 📸

Please welcome our newest addition to the Artemis team, MISS HADLEY!

Miss Hadley was kind enough to fill in as a sub for us a bit last year and did such a great job, we just had to have her back!

It’s hard to believe this girl is only heading into Grade 10 at Redvers because she dances well beyond her years. The fact that she’s only 15 is also great news for us because it means we get to keep her around for a few more years yet! 😂

Outside of the studio, Hadley loves spending time with her family and friends, being involved in 4-H and track, and enjoying farm life. She has a busy household with two brothers, three dogs, Mama B, Father Hoss and, of course, their cattle!

Miss Hadley is excited for another dance season and to keep learning, improving and doing what she loves with the people she loves. 💕 This year, she’s especially excited to experience a whole new side of dance as an assistant teacher!

We are so excited to officially have Miss Hadley on the Artemis team!!!

(Assistant) TEACHER TEA with MISS ARIANNA 🫖

My tea is that since I am heading into Grade 12 shortly, I have started thinking a lot more about my goals and plans for after high school.

This summer I had so much fun at Minot State Fair and going to see Megan Moroney. Other highlights include getting my hair done, going to some Saskatchewan Roughrider games and hanging out with all my friends.

I am looking forward to making more memories on competition weekends, learning new choreography, continuing to improve as a dancer, spending time with my teammates and making my last season memorable.
