Nipigon River Adventures

Nipigon River Adventures Guided fishing tours, specialising in brook trout, Bed and Breakfast accommodations, corporate retre

The Lodge is located in Red Rock, Ontario, Canada on the north shore of Lake Superior at the mouth of the Nipigon River. The building itself is a beautiful circa 1937 log structure which originally served as the corporate retreat for the pulp and paper mill in Red Rock. Mill executives used the lodge for entertaining clients and personal accommodations while visiting Red Rock. The lodge is an exce

llent example of the finest log building craftsmanship and architectural design of the era. The historical integrity of the building has been preserved with modernizations to bring the structure to present code for accommodations. The lodge has 6 guest rooms and is structured with paired rooms sharing a bathroom between suites. The great room stretches 2 ½ floors high with cantilevered log beams, second floor walkway, a massive stone fireplace and a bar – perfect for meetings and evening relaxing. A dining room overlooking Lake Superior and a large kitchen completes the layout of the lodge. The main activity at the lodge centers around the world class brook trout fishery on the Nipigon River. The Nipigon River produced the world record brook trout caught in 1915, weighing in at 14 pounds 6 ounces. The lodge uses some of the best local guides in the business and catches of 4-6 pounds are routine and can range up to 10 pounds. Who knows perhaps even the next world record is lurking down there somewhere! The world famous brook trout fishery, a beautiful setting and unique architecture have made the lodge a natural choice for film crews producing fishing shows for television. To date the lodge has been featured in fourteen fishing productions. The lodge is situated on the side of a hill overlooking Lake Superior and one of the finest vistas on the north shore Lake Superior. Nipigon Bay, the marina at Red Rock are in the foreground and numerous islands stretch out to the horizon. The entire waterfront area is part of Parks Canada’s Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area which encompasses 10,000 square kilometers of protected area. The lodge is located one hours drive east from Thunder Bay and would make an ideal base for exploring the area. Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, Ouimet Canyon, Lake Nipigon, the Nipigon River and gorge, hiking trails and waterfalls are all within one hour driving distance of the lodge. A fall salmon run on the Nipigon River attracts many Bald Eagles to the river banks to feed on the salmon. A wildlife photographer’s delight, the lodge offers a guided photography workshop to get you up close and personal to these magnificent birds.

Best wishes Happy New Year. 2019 is shaping up to be a very good year. Last year was our busiest and this year is going to be even busier. The Brook trout fishing was terrific and even the guides got the biggest Brookies of their lives. We will be at fly fishing shows in Edison NJ, Appleton WI, Detroit Mich and St Paul Min, hope to see you there.
