When the time is right, a lot of work occurs. A new roof for our marks shed formerly the original club house. Plus a new addition to protect the water containment, pumps, and some boat storage. Booyah, lots was done, thanks all!

What happens on Wednesdays at the club? Race nite of course!
Here's the recent wrap up from member, Richard:
St. Mary’s July 8 Wednesday evening sailing had gorgeous hot conditions with winds around 12 knots, then down to 5 knots, then picking up a bit by the end of the evening. Two Lasers battled it out in Race 1 that was shortened to a single upwind leg by Captain of the Day Richard. The start made all the difference with Rob hitting the line perfectly, while Vincent was over early and had to turn back for a restart, placing him behind, and often in Rob’s poor air. Rob easily won race 1. Race 2 started just north of the club, where Trevor joined us in his Laser, as well as Jennifer and Cliff in their Siren 17. It was a close reach to a buoy at the north end of the lake, then a broad reach to a south-east buoy. Vincent crossed the finish line first, but after Portsmouth handicap calculations Rob had won his second race of the night! Vincent, Trevor, and then Jennifer and Cliff were all close behind. Race 3 was a windward-leeward course and this time Vincent stretched-out his lead enough to win it. The beautiful evening finished off with a resurgence of fresh wind and a final race to the club. This one was closest with Vincent pipping Ron by only 3 seconds. It was great to have Trevor back in the fold after some injury time-off. He started earlier in the afternoon and enjoyed a Laser-cruise to the west end of the reservoir in some very fresh breeze. From the committee boat it looked like Jennifer and Cliff had a very democratic boat alternating as skipper and crew in their Siren 17. They had one absolutely perfect start and sailed nicely throughout the evening. Shore-side maneuvers were quick on the still heavily-flooded ramp area, and we had our results wrap-up on the freshly-cut grass at the south-end of the club. Then, under a perfect sunset, we navigated our way through mosquitoes and sheep back to the non-sailing world.

Water aplenty - makes for great sailing! Lots of bugs and standing water on shore, but who plans to stay there?

Clifton camped out last night on the boat. Anchored on the east side of the bay. He reports water has dropped but still a stretch of water on the road and in front of ramp when launching.

The flood waters are slowly receding! And we have truly wonderful sailing conditions! ⛵️ ❤️

High water levels are a dream....until they're not, lol. So yes, we've had lots of water to sail in, but conditions have been cool too. So we make our way around the large puddles, and through the deep road waters. Its always an adventure!

Wednesday race nite series was a go this week. Thanks Richard for this update:
Wednesday evening sailing was one of the best. It started with a north wind and whitecaps, perhaps top-end for some, but as we rigged it settled down, the wind began to fade and the waves got lazy. Thanks to Karol for electrical charging the motorboat, Vincent was able to set out three buoys in the east bay for us to sail around after a rabbit start. The wind dropped but then stayed perfect at about 10 knots all evening. 4 boats sailed 4 triangle races. Richard led in 3, Vincent in one. Rob almost caught both of them in the third race. Stuart and Karol in Franken-Y got better at the rabbit starts and were shadowing us with their big sails. In classic St. Mary’s style, everybody helped out with launching and hauling out. It was a beautiful evening of sailing followed by results and social time in the clubhouse.

A new season is upon us with high water levels! We've had few Wednesday nite race nights and so many more are ahead of us this summer.
Heres a grand review of our first nite from longtime member, Richard:

April Racing at SMSC (first time ever?)
First Wednesday eve racing started at 6:30pm April 29 with 10° temp and 5 knot wind - both dropped significantly, then the wind popped back up again for a nice but chilly sail into the club at 8:30pm. We sailed close to the club in East Bay. Three hardy participants used jackrabbit starts so no countdown or race committee was needed. Then for race 3 we did a pursuit with start orders based upon race 2 time differences. All were in Lasers.
