Today we are picking up some dog meat graciously donated by 53 North Butcher Shop - temperature drops require extra calories, extra straw, extra love and extra free play. We are so lucky to live in a community full of amazing people; these dogs are loved by plenty more than just their driver.

The photos of the first heat of the Caledonia Classic Sled Dog Race are up and they got some amazing shots of everyone! Here are some of our glory shots - can’t wait until day 2 is up! WHAT AN AMAZING RACE!

It’s amazing seeing the drive in the dogs eyes that I can’t see from the sled, and my own expressions say what words can’t. Couldn’t be prouder of these guys ❤️

It was a little cold this weekend, apparently the wind chill was -40 on Saturday night! (Hint: zoom in on my nose and chin) but we had a BLAST at the Caledonia Classic race! More updates and photos to come; for today we are all taking a well deserved rest, tomorrow we start prepping for the Gold Rush Trail Sled Dog Mail Run on Friday!

Not our usual update:
About a week ago, we had someone watching over us.
Very icy conditions downhill, training at 35kmh - hit a bump, caught some air and landed on one ski off track. By the time the other touched the ground it was too late. The only time I’ve let a dog team go on purpose and I’m very glad I did. When we went to recover it with help, we looked at my tracks and it appears I jumped about 8 feet from the tree. The sled itself is 8 feet long, it all happened in a split second. This sled was extremely sentimental to me BUT myself and every dog is 100% okay and has ran since after a few days off with massage. An accident that ended as well as possible and the only feeling is grateful. We walked out 3-4 miles and not only was I glad that I could let all the dogs free and they stay with me, they had an amazing time running and playing in fields and enjoying their freedom - I don’t think they knew anything had happened at all!
Right now we are training by snowmobile and repairing older sleds just in case and seeing if I can manage to rebuild this one in time for our race in ONE WEEK!! Send us all your “fix-it” vibes! 🔧❤️‍🔥🔨

Great time at the Doggy Do (New Year’s Day) Race. Great hosts, great energy, great weather! Everett had the time of his life, and the dogs had fun too.
