And Here is our new President

I got involved in the dog sled world when my daughter Monroe (Musher Moe) started handling for Garrick when he ran his first 100 mile race several years ago. Now I'm seen at the races doing handling duties for multiple teams and helping anyone out that needs a hand
I consider The Canadian Challenge our home race. And looking forward to what this new rejuvenated board has in store.

Here is our new Secretary

I'm Brittany North, I'm from the North Shore of Minnesota. I've been in the mushing world for over a decade as a race volunteer, board member, and handler. My story is similar to many mushers, it all started with one dog, which has now turned into a small kennel of 10 dogs. One of my passions is keeping the lifestyle of mushing alive in a modern world. Aside from mushing, I have professional experience in marketing, social media, and video production. I'm excited to share my passion and skills with the Canadian Challenge team.

Let's introduce our new Treasurer.

Hello Everyone! I’m Erin Gardiner. I dislike the cold and not a huge fan of snow. But I did birth Musher Moe and I’m married to Dexter Mondor. So here I am on a board for a sled dog race.

Here is our New Vice President

And known local

I was born and raised in La Ronge, I’m a proud member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band. Family means everything to me — my wife and our two young boys are my greatest motivation and biggest source of pride.

I started my own dog team when I was just 13 years old and competed in several races over the years. One of my most memorable experiences was completing the 210-mile, 8-dog Canadian Challenge in 2013. Some of my best core memories were made on the trail during dog sled races, learning discipline, resilience, and respect for the land and the dogs.

Although I’ve been without a dog team for the past 13 years, I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to give back to the Canadian Challenge and the dog mushing community.

The Canadian Challenge has always been one of the most memorable events in Northern Saskatchewan for me. As a kid, watching the race brought traditional ways of travel to life and inspired me to dream big of one day owning my own kennel and becoming part of something meaningful.
That experience motivated me to work hard, stay connected to my culture and community, and continue carrying that passion forward for the next generation.

One more new member to round out the evening

Truth be told I didn’t find dog sledding, dog sledding found me compliments of my Eagle ridge family and well anyone who knows once you find the sport you’re hooked! During races you can generally find me with my camera around my neck chasing the mushers around making sure they’ve ate, have everything they need or drying wet clothing clothes. So I suppose you’d say more behind the scenes as the caregiver.

Here we go folks another new board member

Derek has been living in Northern Saskatchewan for 14 years and has been involved with various outdoor projects around La Ronge. Derek married into a mushing family with strong ties to the land. He started off with the challenge as a volunteer checking in mushers, has been an assistant handler and under the guidance of many mushers and handlers raced two years in the 6 dog category. This year he has jumped at the trail boss opportunity with hopes to improve the trail.

Here we go folks another new board member

Brenden Branscombe recently relocated to La Ronge to work with Community Futures Visions North, supporting businesses and community initiatives in Northeastern Saskatchewan and across the Athabasca Basin.

Throughout his career, he has been fortunate to work in a variety of tourism and community development roles. Brenden hopes to bring these lenses to his efforts with the Canadian Challenge Sled Dog Race as Fundraising Lead.

La Ronge and the area have so much to be proud of, and this Challenge is certainly part of that list. Brenden looks forward to collaborating with residents and visitors to create memorable experiences for everyone involved in the Canadian Challenge Sled Dog Race in the years to come!
