This past week we've seen an increase in tags and donations to GTNT in the effort by the community to amplify the voices of Black, Indigenous, People of Color. We thank you and would like to pay forward that support. Here are 4 community/arts organizations we would like to highlight.

Obsidian Theatre Company (Toronto) - Founded in 2000, it is in the Obsidian Theatre Company's mandate to bring the Black voice, in its many artistic dialects, to Canada’s cultural forefront. Read more: https://www.obsidiantheatre.com/about-us/mission-and-mandate/

Saskatoon Indigenous Poets Society - A collective of Indigenous spoken word poets based in Saskatoon. They have Monthly Slams and Open Mic’s, with Indigenous Features each and every month. They also run spoken word workshops on occasion. They advocate for literacy and the empowerment of using our voices.

OUTSaskatoon - OUTSaskatoon is Saskatoon and Area's Q***r and Trans community centre. They provide support, education, social events, and sexual health services. In particular we would like forward you to the Two Spirit section of their website: https://www.outsaskatoon.ca/two_spirit1

"The Earth and its ecosystems are our home" and that "it is necessary to promote harmony with nature and the Earth." The term Mother Earth is used because it "reflects the interdependence that exists among human beings, other living species and the planet we all inhabit". It is decided to designate April 22 as International Mother Earth Day.[2] - Wikipedia

Also... On April 23rd

World Book Day, also known as World Book and Copyright Day, or International Day of the Book, is an annual event organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading, publishing, and copyright. The first World Book Day was celebrated on 23 April in 1995, and continues to be recognized on that day.
