Our 6-day tour in May did go very well. We 'survived' a storm (even saw some water-spouts), saw dolphins, enjoyed the spectacular views and an abundance of wildlife. But most of all, we had a fantastic time. At this moment we only have 2 seats available on the September 6 - 11 edition (we only take 4 guests max. on this special tour).

What a beautiful and lovely day tour in the majestic Copeland Islands today. It’s still so quiet with other boats but wildlife is very active. Many seals, sea-lions, a black bear, eagles catching fish, mink, fantastic birds on and around Major Rock. And even the phone one of our guests dropped was found back, thank you Lucy! I should buy a lottery ticket.

‘Rocky’ (T002C1) just swam past our campsite. This transient / Biggs killer whale is well known in this area and he is approximately 25 feet (7.5 - 8 m) long and weighs up to 15,500 lbs. His towering dorsal fin stands roughly 6 feet (1.8 m) tall.

He travels with his mother (Tasu) and siblings (Lucy, Zippy, and Yukon).

Today, May 4th, it is Remembrance Day in the Netherlands. On May 5th, we celebrate Liberation Day. Thank you Canada, we won’t forget!

During the final phase of World War II, Canadian forces played a major role in liberating the Netherlands. Advancing through difficult terrain and facing German resistance, they freed cities and towns across regions like Gelderland, Groningen and Friesland. Dutch civilians welcomed them warmly, often celebrating in the streets despite the recent hardships of war and famine. The Canadian contribution is still honored in the Netherlands today, especially during Liberation Day on May 5. Their efforts helped restore peace and independence to the country after five years of occupation.

Because it’s spring and our season is about to hit off. And just FYI, this happened during a Copeland Islands day tour. And was filmed from shore.
