Exactly! Tla'amin Fire Department
With school back in session and the days getting shorter, the Tla’amin Nation Fire Department is reminding everyone to take a little extra care on our roads.
Morning and evening commutes are becoming darker, our čičʊy are excited to be back at school and are out walking, biking, and waiting for buses, and changing fall weather can make visibility more difficult.
Throughout t̓išosəm, the posted speed limit is 30 km/h on the highway and 20 km/h on residential streets.
Please SLOW DOWN, obey posted speed limits, and be prepared to stop. Children can be unpredictable, and your full attention behind the wheel matters.
Please remember to:
• Slow down in school zones, residential areas throughout t̓išosəm, and around bus stops
• Watch carefully for čičʊy, pedestrians, and cyclists
• Give yourself extra time during darker mornings and evenings
• Turn on your headlights when visibility is reduced
• Be prepared for foggy windows, wet roads, and changing fall conditions
• Put your phone away and keep your full attention on the road
A few extra seconds of patience can make a big difference.
As we settle into the school year and move into fall, let’s look out for one another and help keep our čičʊy, families, and community safe.
Slow down. Stay alert. Be ready to stop.
