Maybe it’s because I have the privilege of working with so many women in their 40s, 50s, 60s & even 70s…

Or maybe it’s because I live in a predominantly seniors community…

Or maybe it’s because life has knocked me down enough times to humble me in my 40s…

Whatever the reason…I am grateful for reaching this chapter & where I am at in it 🤍💫

The science says: “Jumping as you age is a vital, science-backed way to fight age-related muscle loss, prevent falls, and build bone density.”

Most trainers: “Here’s a workout you’ll hate doing & might not stick to for long but so you can make sure you jump multiple times a week.”

Me: “Ain’t nobody actually happy jumping like that for life. Turn on Jump by House of Pain. Bored of it? We find a new song. 2-3 minutes will fly by when you’re having fun too 🎶”

I do things a little differently around here …because consistency > perfection 💫

I get asked often “Should I try this or that?”

The truth is I rarely try something new.

I keep it simple.

The basics.

The same things the Blue Zones thrive on.

Simplicity keeps the mind lighter too.

Truth is that many of these bio hacks are more-so marketing ploys, albeit some may offer minimal positive effects, but at what cost & there’s a reason they don’t stick around for long.

I prefer the simple life.

Man, did I ever have health wrong in my 20s & 30s.

I had years that I LOOKED GOOD, but my nervous system was 💩 during those times as I constantly focused for the unattainable desire of perfection.

When looks trumped feelings.

But finally in my 40s, I feel I am finally at peace. I am healthy. (Yeah, it took me a while - and that’s okay 🤍)

I may not look perfect, but I FEEL better than I ever have in my life.

Externally & Internally 💫

These are true measurements of health to me.

Ones that will not hinder my joy for life, and that still can apply as I age without shame or guilt as I do.

This is my way.

Love dumbbells?

Then let’s be sure to do them right 💪🏻

1. SLOW DOWN - this isn’t aerobics, slow is good & allows you to establish that mind-muscle connection

2. FULL INHALE & EXHALE - align your breathe with your rep to intentionally slow down more

3. FORM BEFORE VOLUME - getting the proper form targets the intended muscle groups. Lock in form, then add weight.

Not ever workout should be fast-paced🏃‍♀️❌

We did that in our 20s 30s, but now our bodies need balance

Yes, do aerobics still if it feels right - but also stretch, do yoga, walk & if you lift SLOW IT DOWN 💪🏻🤍
