Karin Davis
International FEI Grand Prix Dressage Rider & Trainer
Born in Melbourne, Australia, Karin fell in love with horses “the day she was born” and has enjoyed a life-long passion ever since. She received her first horse on her 12th birthday and from there trained and competed until she was ranked sixth in the country and had become the first Australian to win an International Grand Prix on

her horse, Mighty Heights, in New Zealand in 2002. Before moving to Canada in 2004, Karin successfully competed in the highest levels of Dressage, she was also a highly sought after coach for both Dressage and Eventing and an accredited A level judge, qualified to judge up to and including Grand Prix. Her equine partners have included Mighty Heights (GP), Cairo (PSG/Int1) and Hilton GS (PSG). Her current mounts include, the beautiful Friesian stallion, Morris (owned by Willem Hellema) and Rhys HHF (owned by Karin Davis), a 5 yr old Hanoverian gelding. Karin and Morris have competed Internationally at the Small Tour (PSG/Int 1) for the past 4 years, and competed for the Australian team at the 2014 Nations Cup in Wellington, Florida. Rhys HHF is currently schooling 3rd level and Karin has set her sights on showing him in 2017. Karins’ dedication to the sport of Dressage is unmatched by anyone in this area. Her daily life revolves around coaching, training and supporting dressage. She attends every dressage show in this area from bronze to gold level, and it is not unusual for Karin to have multiple students competing at the various levels at the same show, from the basic walk/trot tests right up to the Grand Prix. Well-known for developing Junior and Young Riders, Karin has coached a number of Juniors and Young Riders to positions on the national teams representing Canada at the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships. Karin also provides dressage instruction for many of our local Eventing enthusiasts including 2012 Olympic contender Michelle Mueller. Karin makes showing a positive and delightful experience, she supports her students from the time they arrive at the show grounds until the time they go home. All of her students come well prepared to shows and they are coached on more than just riding, her instruction includes, horse care, show turnout, test accuracy, horse show etiquette, rider nervousness, and respect for the show grounds, organizers and judges. Aside from coaching at shows, Karin provides regular instruction to a myriad of students, some just enjoy learning and improving their riding skills while others are practicing and preparing for their next event. Whatever goals the rider may have, Karin will be sure to help that person achieve them. Karin is certainly helping the grassroots of Dressage in our area, by encouraging, teaching and mentoring our local riders, she is an inspiration to all. Contact Karin today to talk about how she can help you achieve your goals, and take your riding to Mighty Heights !

Hi everyone, Scout here, this is Groucho Mike.....he's just had Hernia surgery.....if you need any of the specific details of the state of his groin after the surgery feel to contact us privately because we've heard ALL about it and we mean EVERYTHING! He turned up at the barn the day after his surgery, to "help" Mum. OMG, he was wearing his boxers, we thought Mum was going to pass out. She made him aware that he couldn't come there until he could dress properly..... THAT was too much for her to look at 1st thing in the morning!! He's a least dressing better now! Groucho can't do much at the moment but he's an expert in every aspect of working the barn and is great at giving Mum tutorials on everything! For purely educational purposes we'll give you an example...
Preparing bedding pellets..G..did you use the wheelbarrow to soak the pellets?M..yes Mike! G did you spread the pellets out? M..yes Mike! G..did you use hot water? M..yes Mike! G..did just dump it or sprinkle it? M..sprinkle! G..did you use 1 or 2 buckets? M..1 like you instructed! G..did you use the flat or round side of the bucket? M..flat! G...well!! The pellets were nearly too wet for me to use!! M..I didn't prepare them Mike, you did...I'm not qualified! G...sigh!! Mum said he needs a life and to go and annoy his wife......we really hope he recovers quickly 'cos this isn't working!

Hi everyone, Whimsey here, I am available.....I can bring my own ball! Reasonably busy day already. Barn chores, checked all horses, entertained Mike, he really likes playing ball as much as me! Then off to the store to try to pick up stuff for friends. Mum has to do this because I'm not allowed in....just think of all the new friends I could make! Then delivery, no visiting just delivering! Then gas, mum says Port Perry gas stations are ripping us of.....then unfortunately a car wash, not my favorite activity, but she knows that so we shared an ice cream. Mum ate most of it, I just get whats left on the stick, apparently the size of my stomach has to monitored...her rule not mine....then home.....squirrell chasing until its time to go back to the barn!!! Have a great day.

I was reading some of Whimsey's posts. She should write a book!

Hi everyone, Whimsey here....I'm practicing social distancing. My mum ties me up while she puts the horses out that way I can't go and visit/play with my friend Norman. We are not able to stay 6 feet apart when we play sooooo no more playing!!!! Stay home and stay safe, pravtice social distancing! I'd love to give you all a big sloppy kiss but I can't so just pretend I did. Miss you all!

Whimsey here, I'm the prettiest one in the pic. Interesting situation.....my boyfriend Kyle and best friend Kathy trying to make the phone follow her around! Alexa was of course perfect, putting up with their umming and ahhing and stopping, starting, head scratching, button pushing etc etc.....finally one of them suggested they turn the thing on!!! Brainiacs! My face says it all!!!! Chasing balls is so much simpler!!

Whim has never given up on being and adventurer and I have never given up on escape proofing the fence! Hence

Good morning, Whimsey here, I thought I'd share another one of my adventures with you all. Mum dropped me and Bounce off in the back yard while she went to teach a lesson close by. Before I go any further I have to mention that she spends an amazing amount of time "escape proofing" the back yard, too much time I think! Imagine all the adventures we could have if she spent her time doing other stuff. Soooo, anyways, I'd been working on a plan, and it came off. I ESCAPED!! I trolled around a bit checking out the neighbours, met this really neat guy, my new friend "neighbour Dave". Sprung!!! We don't exactly have a gos tracker on but close .... we are all fitted with collars with our name and Mum's number. Neighbour Dave rings Mum, "I've got your dog!" Well, all hell breaks loose. Dave says, don't worry I'll keep her til you get back!!! Really nice guy, mum gets there, we were making dinner, he seems like a great cook, sharing guy too, just my type. Anyways, mum gets there, a triffle excited, I was kinda happy to see her but I was aware that I had overstepped the boundaries, a little! I suggested she come back after dinner, did not go down well. Then we spent the rest of the evening on the fence. Onwards and upwards!!!!
