Yesterday we hosted our annual IRC Xmas Pancake breakfast and we broke the record for attendance! It was an amazing turnout (we ran out of food!) and glad everyone could make it. The event started with a bingo game - with Arther, Semyon and Franca taking home the top prizes. We also acknowledged Peter Inden, whom we nominated as LTR Coach of the Year, and Sue Inden - recipient of Rowing BC's Volunteer of the Year Award. Thanks so much to Emily for making all the food, to Emelia for the games, and to everyone who helped out. Happy Holidays!

After yesterday morning's fabulous row, we didn't think it could get much better but it did as this morning we were completely power boat free and had the Inlet entirely to ourselves. Arthur, one of our youngest Jrs joined our rec session this morning (he's having a lie down in the pic!). Fall rowing is shaping up to be pretty amazing so far!

Today was the first session of our learn to row program for Ukrainian youth, in partnership with the Maple Hope Foundation. Thanks to a generous grant from Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA Community Sport For All), we are able to fully fund supporting Ukrainian youth as they discover the amazing sport of rowing. Thanks to all the coaches and volunteers who helped make this possible.

Even though Deep Cove's regatta was cancelled this weekend, we still got a chance to row the course in a friendly inter-club outing courtesy of Colin and everyone at Deep Cove Rowing Club. Thanks so much for loaning us a quad to use and sharing your waters with us - it was fabulous! (so too were Honey's Donuts, which was a huge incentive to still do the 7.7K 😳 course). 😂

Congrats to all the rowers at Head of the Nicomekl regatta yesterday. We heard it was quite the race given the blustery windy conditions and whitecaps! 😳

Our Jrs held their own and finished the race without incident! Thanks to Emelia for organizing and cheerleading!

Last Sunday we bid a fond farewell to Peter - a member of our Jr program and more recently, a key member of our coaching staff. Peter is starting a new chapter at University of the Fraser Valley and will be joining their varsity UFV Rowing rowing team. We wish Peter all the best as he embarks on this new adventure - thanks for all your contributions to the club!!
