Leg tag!

This fun game gives kids the chance to practice an entry into take downs. It also helps students learn to square up against their opponent and move/adjust their base.

High vibes & high fives!

Today we covered injury prevention with stretching and breakfalls. The kids are finding their strength in base and took turns taking each other's backs with a seatbelt grip and hooks. We also got to introduce the game: Leg Tag
Which the group really seemed to enjoy.

First youth Jiu jitsu class🐎🎉

Jourdain led the group through some roll fundamentals and back attacks. The group caught on quickly and we were able to drill some situational rolls to end the class.

Youth class meets again tomorrow at 5:30pm for MMA.

This is going to be a long one.

When we first got the keys to WorkHorse, we started visualizing the physical space, what colors we would paint which walls, equipment and layout, training programs and schedules, and the energy we hoped would manifest once we opened. We officially opened our doors and left completely overwhelmed in the best way possible.

We have some shout outs to make:
• Our landlord - Bruce
• Qurse Art & Design - for a logo that truly pops
•Maple Signs & Engraving - for making speedy work of our signs so that they were ready for opening day
• Forged on the Mats - our gym sponsor, no-gi kit designer & friend
• Kathleen MacLeod - you captured the energy perfectly
• Chris, Kealan, Jourdain, Keanan, Ro - our dream team! It's our privilege to have you as part of our team
• Luc Aucoin - for all your help during initial demolition & set up
• Waqmin Sports - the hardest working manufacturers with high quality goods
•Our core members - you've been along for the ride since December. Your support and faith in us pushed us through some long days.
•Our kids - we ate an alarming amount of McDonald's & late night pizza these last 5 months. You're always down for Mom and Dad's crazy ideas and I hope some day you look back on our family gym with a smile and love for the space and the community that has become our second home.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, inquired, registered, spread the word, engaged with our content. It truly takes a community for a business to be successful. We have so much in mind for this space, we will get there together.

Alright, enough sap. Back to work! We will see you on the mats 🐎💪
