The mission of Port Hardy Pickleball is to promote the growth and development of pickleball in Port Hardy and on Vancouver Island North. In promoting this mission, all pickleball members and volunteers will model excellent behaviour, lead by example, display self-respect/respect to o
thers, and show self-control. Port Hardy Pickleball is committed to providing an environment that reflects the Club’s core values of respect, fairness, integrity, honesty, transparency and safety. The long term success of this sport is providing an environment of excellent sportsmanship where all players play the game to the best of their ability, learn skills, and most importantly “have fun”! VISION STATEMENT
Port Hardy Pickleball is a group of people who actively promote the health and well- being of themselves and others through exercise and recreation playing pickleball. They strive for the development of this sport in Port Hardy and on Vancouver Island North by encouraging participation for beginner, intermediate, and advanced players, as well as tournaments in the future. As well, introducing youth to pickleball by providing programs and clinics will give them a sense of belonging to a great sports team. CODE OF CONDUCT
Behaviour and Interactions On and Off the Pickleball Court
Players will:
create a welcoming, encouraging, respectful, and emotionally and physically safe
environment to other players, volunteers, coaches, instructors, officials, sponsors, and spectators, while participating in Port Hardy Pickleball games, activities, programs and events.
exhibit excellent sportsmanship and respect at all times whether playing or observing games, and encourage others to do the same.
refrain from all forms of discrimination, and will respect the rights, dignity and worth of all people involved in pickleball.
refrain from engaging in bullying and harassment (including sexual harassment).
refrain from any form of foul, profane, insulting, offensive, or abusive language
and toilet humour or gestures aimed at others.
control temper at all times.
play music at a volume where all pickleball players can hear the score on their
court.
respect other players with topics of conversation that everyone can participate in.
assess their opponents to determine level of play prior to beginning game (hard
vs. soft games will be considered to avoid injury to females and less experienced
players.)
remind each other of scoring to be helpful to each other during pickleball games.
report to the President and/or Executive occurrences of unsportsmanlike
conduct, bullying, harassment (including sexual harassment), as well as verbal

and/or physical violence/abuse observed or experienced on and/or off the pickleball court.
**All players are familiar with, understand, and abide by their responsibilities under this Code of Conduct. For violations of the Code of Conduct, there will be consequences depending on the severity of the violation such as a warning, a verbal or written acknowledgement and apology, membership cancellation for serious violation or repeated disturbance, and the possibility of mediation if the conflict cannot be resolved. The Executive will determine the severity of any violation occurring on and off the court connected with Port Hardy Pickleball.
