Attention Seven Hills Golfers!

Fall is upon us and the course is getting soft.

We are noticing tire marks in the fairways—your cooperation is needed to avoid further damage.

Rather than moving immediately to Cart Path Only, we are asking cart users to use the 90 degree rule (i.e. use the path to travel forward until you are opposite then travel straight out to your ball, play your shot, return to the path and repeat).

Soft spots are easily recognized and should be avoided. If in doubt, STAY OUT.

We will continue to monitor conditions and will move to Cart Path Only when required.

Thank you.

Attention Seven Hills golfers!

Earlier this year I received certification to apply pesticides and the course has obtained the necessary permitting.

In the coming days and weeks, you will start seeing this sign posted near the putting green as we begin a small spray program. The signs include information that describes what chemical has been used and when it was applied.

The focus will be on the greens only. The first application will be spot treatment with herbicide to control w**d patches that are beginning to establish and spread. Later this month (or in the spring) we will be controlling crane fly larvae with granular insecticide. In early November we will be doing a fungicide application to mitigate turf damage that typically occurs over the winter.

The chemicals we are using are licenced for golf courses and other public spaces and commonly used. Precautions should still be taken however. If you are apprehensive about chemicals in general, the safest approach is avoidance. Do not using the course immediately following treatment. Once the chemical is dry (within a few hours after application, depending on the weather) it is safe to enter the spray areas but always good practice to wash your hands afterwards.

Should you have any questions don’t hesitate to stop by, call or email the club and I’ll do my best to answer them.

Thank you.
