THANK YOU 🫶🏼

This week marks my last full week of in-person training before starting my orientation next week for my Masters of Physiotherapy! It’s been a busy week full of so many fun sessions, amazing reflection on where clients started to where they are today, and so much thankfulness.

While I’m not stopping coaching, my schedule will be changing and the reduced capacity of in-person training will be different! I will be continuing in-person coaching with a small handful of clients and a small group, and offering online coaching services to further support those who choose to train with me.

If we’ve trained together over the last five years … THANK YOU! 🫶🏼 The trust you’ve placed in me to support you on your fitness journey, challenge you in the gym, and steer you towards wellness is such a privilege.

I don’t take lightly how lucky I am to have been able to train full time for the last five years! Working with an amazing studio the best mentors has allowed me to build a business and career that I am so proud of 🩷

I am so excited for this next step in my professional journey, and I sincerely appreciate all of the support, kindness, and enthusiasm that I have received over the last little while. This next step is daunting, but I am eager to continue growing and learning all I can to support others in their health journeys.

Officially entering my PHYSIO-era 🙊

You read that right! I’m going back to school 🤓

Over the last year I’ve secretly been working on my masters application, gathering references, and preparing for interviews. After submitting my application in December last year I was thrilled to be offered an interview for the program. A few months later I got the news that I was offered a spot!

This September I’ll be heading back to the classroom to do my Masters in Physiotherapy at UBC! I’m really excited to also share that I’ve gotten into UBC’s Fraser Valley cohort and will be spending a majority of my class time at their Surrey campus.

I am so excited for this next step, and also so appreciative of everyone that has helped me get to this point. To the team, my clients, friends and family, thank you for your overwhelming support and kindness as I chase my next endeavour!

What does this mean for Focused Fitness? Definitely not goodbye! Starting in September things will be changing a little bit … 👇🏼

➡️ I’ll still be offering in person training, just at a reduced capacity to accommodate my class schedule.
➡️ My openings for Online Coaching will be increasing as I continue to provide current and new clients with support in independent training.
➡️ Runner Group Training will take a pause for the summer and restart in September on Monday evenings!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you SO much for the ongoing support 🩵 I am so excited for this next step and can’t wait to see where it takes me!

A little personal photo dump from long weekend shenanigans …

Feeling recharged and grateful after a long weekend spent with friends, family, (a lot of) good food, and some time in the forest 😌

The last three months have been busy with training clients, prioritizing my own training, and managing to have a life on the side.

April is sure to be a busy month also, but taking time to prioritize rest and reflecting on wins is also important 🫶🏼

I spent HALF of my fitness journey trying to get smaller … 🫣

That’s over three years dedicated to calorie deficits, excessive cardio, and avoiding certain foods out of fear of higher calories.

I missed out on enjoying time with friends over food. I developed a toxic relationship with my body image. And I became so focused on my appearance, that fitness wasn’t fun.

Fast forward to now, what’s changed? ⬇️

My relationship with training, nutrition, and life in general is much more balanced and enjoyable! I train out of a desire to challenge myself and see what my body is capable of rather than to simply burn calories or have abs.

Now I know food is fuel, but it’s also fun! I love prioritizing my protein, but I also won’t say no to a charcuterie board with my best friends.

My approach to fitness and nutrition transformed when I embraced what my body could do with proper strength training and good fuel 👏🏼

If you’re struggling to choose between physique goals and fitness goals, I encourage you to focus on your fitness goals first. With that often comes physique changes (hello back gains ⬆️👀) AND the unlocking of new strength and confidence.

Prioritize moving well, lift heavy with good form, challenge yourself regularly, prioritize protein (but don’t forget to have fun), and see the progress unfold 🫶🏼

And that’s on balance 🎤🫳🏼

WELCOME FEBRUARY 🫶🏼

The first month of 2024 is complete! How did it go for you? One of my favourite things as a coach is reflecting with clients on the last week, month, year, etc … and picking out points of success and areas for growth! It’s such a powerful way to gather data that can prevent you from repeat the same mistakes!

Reflect on last month, and ask yourself …

➡️ How did I invest in my health and wellness this month?

➡️ What worked well for me this month? What do I want to keep doing next month?

➡️ What did not work for me this month? How can I modify this for greater success next month?

➡️ What habits, routines, and activities make me feel good?

➡️ What are my health non-negotiables for this upcoming month (eg. Three workouts a week, drinking a litre of water a day, going to sleep at 9 PM)?

Reflection on the past is one of the best ways to set yourself up for a successful future! What are you working towards this month?

I’m so honoured to be recognized by as one of Canada’s Top Fitness Trainers for 2024! Three years ago, I never would’ve imagined such an exciting achievement in my career.

Becoming a Personal Trainer and building Focused Fitness has brought me immense fulfillment and joy over the last three years. Helping people build confidence, strength, and find joy in movement is one of the most rewarding things I get to do.
