During this Covid-19 pandemic the Niagara Whalers want to pass our prayers to all affected. We will get through this together! The Whalers cannot hold recruit skates at this time however we are accepting player resumes and videos for players 16-21 years of age as we look to build another championship caliber team for the upcoming season hopefully in the fall. We cannot guarantee when the season will start and we will be assisting players to hold a roster spot with the whalers by accepting only a small deposit and deferring player fee payments until this pandemic is over. The other Jr teams across Canada and the USA promising a start date to a season to entice players to pay player fees during this pandemic when people are losing their jobs is wrong! No one can guarantee when we will resume activities at this point! Do not go on a guarantee of a start date as no one knows if or when the seasons will begin. The Whalers want to be transparent and assist players and families during this time and we will do everything we can to assure players have a spot on our team when the season does begin hopefully in the fall! The Niagara Whalers would like to congratulate our former Captain from last season Kellan Rosenbaum who has committed to Niagara University ACHA D1 hockey for the upcoming season. Kellan will be joining our other former player and captain David Christopher at Niagara University this year on the ice who has put up amazing numbers the past few seasons with Niagara University! The Niagara Whalers ounce again congratulate Kellan and wish him all the best in 2020-21 at Niagara University.

The Niagara Whalers have a huge announcement today! The Niagara Whalers would like to officially announce that we have hired former player from 2019-20 season and former Assistant Captain Nick Bisser to take the hockey clubs role as Assistant GM and Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2020-21 season. Nick will be joining Southern Ontario Hockey Hall of Fame Coach Terry Masterson on the bench this season as well as assisting in running the front office and recruitment as the Whalers look to build another Championship Team! We are pleased to promote from with in the organization and are proud to welcome Nick to his new positions. The Whalers will have one of the best staffs in the leauge ounce again! Please feel free to reach out to Nick Bisser for recruitment for the upcoming season as the Whalers look to add talented players from across the globe ounce again as we build a championship caliber team! There are empty rinks all across the country and we will all be back soon enjoying the game we all love! To our Whalers staff, players, fans , and City of Port Colborne staff please stay safe. We will get through this soon and we look forward to our opening home game this September 2020 at the Vale Center in Port Colborne! Players interested in joining the Whalers for the upcoming season can visit our new website under construction and submit their resumes until we can hold our Jr Camps! We are saddened to learn of the sudden and unexpected passing of one of our Niagara Whalers family members John Drehs. John was with the Whalers the past 3 seasons as part of our team staff and Whalers family. John was one of the most enthusiastic people we ever knew when it came to hockey and the Niagara Whalers and always cared for the team, staff and players before himself. John became a true friend to many with the Whalers and part of many of our lives outside of hockey as well! We want to wish John's family our thoughts and prayers at this time as John will never be forgotten and always remembered. We will dedicate this upcoming season to the memory of our good friend John Drehs and always have a cup of Timmy's waiting for you John before each game!!

Late in the evening of March 12th, 2020, the GMHL was notified by our underwriting insurance provider that a mandatory two week shutdown must be implemented.
