Game #1: ❄️ First Snow, First Show: Hot Stixs Melt the Buddha Babes 5–2 ❄️

The first snowfall of the season hit Port Colborne, giving everyone that cozy winter feeling… except the Hot Stixs, who apparently treated it as a personal challenge to warm the entire rink with pure chaos and questionable levels of swagger. The Buddha Babes arrived cool, calm, and ready to vibe—but they weren’t prepared for the five-alarm fire that showed up across the ice.

The Babes kicked things off with #3 Kaitlyn “Kool Whip” DeRuiter sniping one early thanks to a silky setup from #16 Bailey “Mulhottstuff” Mulholland. A zen moment for the Babes… briefly. Because just two minutes later, #8 Jamie “Heatstroke” Huggins reminded everyone why she is the main character, finishing a play fed by #10 Ashley “Chill-No-More” Chalmers and #5 Elsa “Icebreaker” Figueroa.

The Babes tried to regain control when #7 Raelene “Rae of Trouble” Ingram scored with help from DeRuiter and #10 Lindsay “Legs-for-Days” Kelley—who then took a quick trip to the Sin Bin for tripping. Meditation interrupted.

From there, the Hot Stixs said goodbye to winter and hello to a tropical heatwave. #2 Tenisha “Rehberg Rocket” blasted one in after a slick feed from #4 Barbara “Barbwire” Lemire, and then Jamie decided it was time for part two of the Huggins Highlight Reel—burying another Chalmers special.

The third period was basically a sauna. #14 Stephanie “Sizzlin’ Steph” Martino cashed in off a perfect setup from Huggins, who was everywhere, all at once, with maximum spice. And just when the Babes took another penalty thanks to #11 Brooklyne “Trippin’ Jones”, the Hot Stixs power play lit up the scoreboard again—Huggins completing the hat trick off a pass from #11 Suze “Smooth Operator” Boge.

Across the ice, both teams got big performances from the full crew:
Hot Stixs grinders like #3 Laurie “Silent Threat” Griffin, #9 Scarlett “Red Hot” Gaboury, #23 Telina “Fish Fryer” Fishbach, and the whole bench kept the heat pumping. The Buddha Babes brought the chill with #1 Faith “Ice Faithful” Asselin, #5 Jenna “Horton Hears a Shoot” Horton, #6 Alyssa “Kooler” Kelley, #20 Ashleigh “Backslide” Blackwell, #23 Jaymie “Thorn-in-Your-Side” Thorne, and more—but the Stixs’ firepower was just too spicy to contain.

Final Score: Hot Stixs 5 — Buddha Babes 2

The snow was falling outside, but inside the rink the Hot Stixs melted everything in sight. If this is how the first game of the season looked… we might need sunscreen for the rest of the winter.

Game #2: First Snow, Full Sizzle: Power Puck Girls Shock the Outlaws 5–3 ⚡

The first snow of the season was falling quietly outside… but inside the rink, absolutely nothing was quiet. The Power Puck Girls showed up with enough voltage to power the entire Vale Centre, while the Outlaws rolled in ready to steal hearts, points, and possibly the Zamboni if given the chance.

The spark hit early when #19 Eliza “Lightning Legs” Durant struck first off a perfect setup from #5 Tianna “Ramage Wrecking Ball” Ramage. Moments later, the Outlaws answered back thanks to #2 Melissa “Sharp-Shooter Shenanigans” Lea, assisted by #19 Sabrina “Tilden Temptation” Tilden, tying things up and adding some early spice.

But the Puck Girls had a secret weapon — #14 Sarah “Krow-Cherry Bomb” Krowchuk, who blasted one into the net with a level of confidence usually reserved for people who finish their Christmas shopping in November.

The second period was like a truce at the North Pole — no penalties, mostly calm — until #17 Jocelyn “Jingle-Snipe” Sexton tied the game 2–2 with a clean setup from #4 Jen “Teal Tease” Teal.
And then… the third period arrived like a holiday party after four spiked hot chocolates.

Durant opened the floodgates with another goal, fed by #17 Rebekah “Young & Dangerous” Young, sending the Puck Girls into full electrical surge mode. Then Krow-Cherry Bomb struck again. And again. And then AGAIN (hat trick incoming!) — finishing the night like she was being paid per goal.

The Outlaws refused to go quietly. #7 Nacura “Barker Bite” Barker buried one to keep things interesting at 4–3, but with 18 seconds left Krowchuk lit the lamp once more, courtesy of #13 Andrea “Roy-Agro Rockstar” Roy-Agro, officially ending all Outlaw hopes and dreams for the evening.

Across both benches, the supporting cast delivered full first-snow energy:

For the Power Puck Girls, #2 Alison “Brunton Bruiser” Brunton, #4 Alicia “Chaos Charles” Charles, #7 Jessica “Grab ’n Dash” Grabell, #18 Caitlin “Pye in the Sky” Pye, #30 Chantelle “Proulx Patrol” Proulx and the whole crew kept the buzz going.

The Outlaws brought the heat too with #1 Faith “Stonewall” Asselin, #5 Kathleen “Battle Bartman” Bartman, #6 Shanen “Snowstorm Smith” Smith, #8 Brooke “Fleming Fuego” Fleming, #10 Lucy “Loosey Goosey” Sousa, #12 Ally “Grenade Grenier” Grenier, #14 Kayla “White Out” White, #16 Alysia “Rivando Rampage” Rivando-Robb, and #18 Meighan “Sexton Heatwave” Sexton all firing back.

Final Score: Power Puck Girls 5 — Outlaws 3

The snow outside was soft and gentle… but inside?
Pure chaos, full electricity, big goals, big personalities, and absolutely zero chill.

If this is how the season starts, winter is about to get very fun.

Game #3: 🍑💚 First Snow, First Standoff: Poco Peaches & Emerald Valkyries Tie 1–1 💚🍑

On a snowy Sunday night, the last game of the triple-header brought us something truly rare: a Poco Peaches vs. Emerald Valkyries showdown that was somehow equal parts spicy, stubborn, and snow-day sleepy. Both teams showed up with full winter-warrior energy, but neither was willing to let the other walk out with bragging rights… so they settled for a 1–1 tie that felt more dramatic than a mid-season Netflix cliffhanger.

The tone was set early when #10 Kristina “Peach Pit Sniper” Lavoie fired one home just 2:31 into the game, catching the Valkyries off guard and proving she absolutely does shoot like someone who keeps her stick taped with glitter and vengeance. The Peaches bench went wild, probably because they assumed the early goal meant more was coming.

Spoiler: it was not.

The rest of the night turned into a full defensive grind.
Peaches players like #7 Lia “Grande Energy” Grande, #16 Shelby “ClevelAND Deliver” Cleveland, #17 Kayla “Juicebox” Jardine, #8 Courtney “Peach Punch” Ammendolia, and #2 Olivia “Abruñzo Avalanche” Abrunzo scrapped hard, clogged lanes, and tried desperately to recreate that first-period magic—while #5 Mary “Good Gough” Gough, #1 Kayleigh “Cartwheel Carter” Carter, #14 Kathleen “Fenech Frenzy” Fenech, and the VanHelvert duo ( #3 Emmee “VanHammer” and #19 Marlee “VanHurricane”) kept the pressure rolling.

But the Valkyries? Oh, they came to battle.

Led by #20 Sarah “Krow-Quake” Krowchuk, who stormed in and tied the game early in the third like she was collecting overdue payments, the Emerald squad played with full enchanted-warrior energy. Supporting the push were #6 Alyssa “Carrey the Torch” Carrey, #7 Baylie “Frostbite Forbes” Forbes, #14 Lilly “Dollface Dallman” Dallman, #25 Brianna “Toth-en-Your-Side” Toth, and #9 Meghan “Marigold Magic” Marigomen, with #30 Sarah “Glacial Wall” Giles keeping things sealed at the back.

With no penalties all game, both sides kept things cleaner than freshly fallen snow—though there were at least three moments where someone definitely thought about taking a trip to the Naughty Box.

By the final buzzer, neither team had melted, cracked, or broken. Instead, they skated off locked in a stubborn stalemate, leaving fans equal parts entertained and mildly confused about whether to cheer, sigh, or go home and shovel.

Final Score: Poco Peaches 1 — Emerald Valkyries 1

A win? No.
A loss? Also no.
A snowy, feisty, chaotic masterpiece? Absolutely.

Winter hockey is officially in season. ❄️🍑💚

Game #1: 🍁 Falling Back, Firing Forward: Hot Stixs vs. Emerald Valkyries ⏰🔥

The clocks weren’t the only thing turning back this weekend — so did a few defenders trying to catch up with some seriously fired-up forwards! On a brisk Daylight Savings Sunday, the Emerald Valkyries and Hot Stixs hit the ice at Vale for a matchup that proved even if you “fall back” an hour, you’d better not fall asleep on the puck. 😴🏒

The Valkyries came out ready to make the most of their extra hour of energy drinks, with #18 Courtney Maud scoring not once but twice in the first, because apparently, she doesn’t need to adjust her internal hockey clock. 🕒 But the Stixs didn’t snooze — #2 Tenisha Rehberg answered quickly, waking everyone up and sparking the comeback.

In the second, #4 Barbara Lemire tied things up with a goal that screamed “rise and grind,” while #3 Laurie Griffin, #7 McKenna Towner, and #9 Scarlett Gaboury kept the Valks guessing with steady pressure.

By the third, the Hot Stixs were running like a team that had hit the coffee pot twice. ☕ #8 Jamie Huggins put them ahead with help from Griffin, and Lemire struck again to seal the 4–2 win — officially earning her the “Fall Back MVP” award for showing no signs of Sunday sleepiness.

The Valkyries fought hard, with #14 Lilly Dallman, #11 Cathleen Iwanowski, and #6 Alyssa Carrey pushing through the time-change fog, while goalie #30 Sarah Giles stood tall through waves of Hot Stixs offense.

⏰ Final Score:
🔥 Hot Stixs 4
💚 Emerald Valkyries 2

Moral of the game: while everyone else was gaining an extra hour of sleep, the Hot Stixs gained an extra gear. 🚨🍂

Game #2: 🍂 Falling Back, Skating Ahead: Poco Peaches vs. Power Puck Girls ⏰🍑⚡

With the clocks rolled back and everyone running on “bonus sleep,” the Poco Peaches and Power Puck Girls hit the ice Sunday night looking surprisingly fresh for a Daylight Savings showdown. The Peaches, clearly fueled by an extra hour of coffee and confidence, skated away with a crisp 3–1 win — proving that even when time falls back, their game doesn’t.

The Peaches got things rolling early when #16 Shelby Cleveland found the back of the net in the first period — likely before the Power Puck Girls even realized what time zone they were in. ⏰ In the second, #10 Kristina Lavoie doubled the lead with a beauty assisted by #5 Mary Gough, who might as well have been holding a pumpkin-spiced playbook. 🎃

The third period sealed the deal, with #17 Kayla Jardine scoring to make it 3–0 and earning herself a post-game “extra hour of bragging rights.” The Puck Girls finally broke through when #18 Caitlin Pye scored (making up for her first-period slashing penalty — call it time-served and redeemed ⏳).

The Peaches’ lineup was buzzing — #2 Olivia Abrunzo, #3 Emmee VanHelvert, #8 Courtney Ammendolia, and #11 Carrie Gillespie kept the puck moving faster than a clock at 1:59 a.m. Meanwhile, the Power Puck Girls put up a solid fight with strong shifts from #10 Mallory Crossman, #14 Sarah Krowchuk, and #17 Rebekah Young, keeping things competitive right to the final tick.

🍁 Final Score:
🍑 Poco Peaches 3
⚡ Power Puck Girls 1

Moral of the night: while everyone else was trying to figure out if it was dinner or bedtime, the Peaches were out there turning back time — and lighting up the scoreboard. ⏰🏒

Game #3: 🍁 The Time Change Tie: Buddha Babes vs. Outlaws ⏰🤠🧘‍♀️

Ah, the Daylight Savings Dilemma — that magical weekend when nobody knows what time it is, who changed their clocks, or whether they’re early, late, or just spiritually confused. The Buddha Babes and Outlaws hit the ice Sunday night looking a little jet-lagged but fully determined to make the most of their “extra hour of hockey.”

The Outlaws came out of the gate like they’d set their alarms for chaos. ⏰ #7 Nacura Barker struck first in the opening period, followed by #17 Jocelyn Sexton in the second — clearly two players who did not hit snooze. Meanwhile, the Babes stayed calm and centered (as usual), finding their balance just in time for a wild third.

That’s when #16 Bailey Mulholland got things rolling with a laser that woke everyone up faster than a double espresso. Then #11 Brooklyne Jones tied it up, sealing the deal with a goal so smooth it probably reset the clocks again. 🌀

The rest of the Babes — #5 Jenna Horton, #10 Lindsay Kelley, #20 Ashleigh Blackwell, and the ever-energetic #18 Jayden Cline — brought the hustle, while the Outlaws’ crew — #13 Erica Horton, #16 Alysia Rivando-Robb, and #10 Lucy Sousa — battled to hold the line.

No penalties, no nonsense — just pure fall hockey vibes and a score that stayed perfectly balanced, as all time-changes should be.

⏰ Final Score:
🧘‍♀️ Buddha Babes 2
🤠 Outlaws 2

Moral of the story: whether you gained an hour of sleep or lost track of it completely, the Babes and Outlaws proved that good hockey is timeless. 🕰️🏒

Game #1: 🎃 Spooky Season Showdown: Hot Stixs vs. Power Puck Girls 👻🏒

It was a chilling night at Vale Arena — ghosts in the rafters, pumpkins in the lobby, and enough Halloween energy to power a haunted Zamboni. The Hot Stixs and Power Puck Girls hit the ice for an epic thriller that ended in a 4–4 deadlock — because apparently even hockey games love a good jump-scare ending.

The Hot Stixs came flying out like witches on broomsticks 🧹 with #8 Jamie Huggins firing in the first goal. But the Puck Girls said “boo” right back thanks to #11 Victoria Peebles, who clearly decided she was going full monster mode for the night.

The second period? A full-on Halloween candy sugar rush.

#12 Jessica Minor went trick-or-treating twice, scoring two sweet goals for the Stixs, while #8 Jamie Huggins bagged a second bucket herself — with #23 Telina Fishbach, #4 Barbara Lemire, and #3 Laurie Griffin stirring the brew like power-play sorceresses. Even #7 McKenna Towner joined in the potion-mixing with an assist.

But right before the period expired — at 0:05 — Victoria Peebles rose from the dead again 🧟‍♀️ scoring her second and warning everyone that the night of Victoria-ween was just beginning…

And oh yes — she wasn’t done haunting.

In the third, #10 Mallory Crossman slipped one in like a vampire through a window, and then she assisted on Peebles’ third goal — yes, a ghoulish hat trick 🎩👻 and then some. (She even took a 5-minute major, because every scary movie needs a dramatic twist.)

The Hot Stixs battled hard to the final whistle with hustle from #5 Elsa Figueroa, #9 Scarlett Gaboury, #10 Ashley Chalmers, and call-up goalie Sarah Gilles (AP) keeping the spirits at bay — literally.

🕸️ Final Score:
🔥 Hot Stixs – 4
⚡ Power Puck Girls – 4

Game #2: 🎃 Ghouls on Ice: Emerald Valkyries vs. Buddha Babes 🧙‍♀️🧘‍♀️🏒

The 7pm matchup brought us another spook-tacular showdown — this time between the Emerald Valkyries and the ever-zen (but ready-to-strike-like-a-haunted-cobra) Buddha Babes.

The first period had no scoring — likely because both teams were too busy scanning the rink for ghosts or protecting their pumpkin-spiced lattes on the bench. 👻☕

In the second, #23 Connie Byrne broke the spell and snapped one in for the Valkyries at 4:38 — then immediately took a penalty shortly after, because even Halloween villains need time in the penalty crypt. 🪦 (Hooking = spooky fishing?)

The third period looked like the Valkyries were about to ride off into the mystical mist with a 1–0 win…

…but wait…

…out of the Halloween shadows, with ONE SECOND LEFT — yes, 0:01 on the clock — #11 Brooklyne Jones swooped in like a vampire bat and buried the puck! 🦇💥 With help from #16 Bailey Mulholland, who served up the assist like a witch handing out full-sized chocolate bars.

Tie game. Arena chaos. Ghosts cheering. Pumpkins shaking. The scorekeeper probably aged 10 years.

Huge credit to Valks warriors like #6 Alyssa Carrey, #8 Melissa Masterson, and #9 Meghan Marigomen, and to Babes battlers #3 Kaitlyn DeRuiter, #18 Jayden Cline (still everywhere and cheering like the league’s official emotional support goblin 💛), and #25 Lisa DeLong for grinding every shift.

🕸️ Final Score:
💚 Emerald Valkyries 1
🧘‍♀️ Buddha Babes 1

Moral of the story: never leave early at a hockey game — especially during Halloween week. You might miss a last-second jump scare. 😱🥅

Game #3: 🎃 Haunted Shootout: Outlaws vs. Poco Peaches 🍑🤠👻

The 8pm finale brought us a spooky showdown between the Outlaws and the Poco Peaches, and this one was full of Halloween magic, mischief, and one very unstoppable peach-powered phantom sniper.

The Peaches came flying in like sugar-rushed trick-or-treaters, and #18 Amy Lloyd decided she was going to go full slasher-movie villain mode. She struck twice in the opening minutes (both assisted by #11 Carrie Gillespie & #5 Mary Gough, who were clearly working some kind of pumpkin-spiced witchcraft 🧙‍♀️✨).

But the Outlaws don’t scare easy — they stormed back with #4 Jen Teal burying one off a sweet setup by #17 Jocelyn Sexton. That goal had “Halloween western showdown” energy — tumbleweeds, eerie whistling, ghost horses, the whole thing. 🐎🌫️

Second period? Déjà boo. 👻

Teal struck again early, tying the game 2–2 and giving the Outlaws life… until Amy “Nightmare on Ice Street” Lloyd completed her hat-trick of terror, once again with Mary Gough and Carrie Gillespie stirring the potion. Someone check their candy bags — that line was clearly fueled by sour keys and witch elixir.

The third period turned into a tense defensive thriller — no goals, but lots of grit. Shoutout to grinders like #6 Shanen Smith, #10 Lucy Sousa, #14 Kayla White, and #16 Alysia Rivando-Robb for the Outlaws, and Peaches workhorses #2 Olivia Abrunzo, #3 Emmee VanHelvert, and #16 Shelby Cleveland for holding down the fort like scarecrows guarding a cornfield. 🌽💪

In the end, the Peaches escaped with the win, powered by hat-trick hero Amy Lloyd and enough teamwork to summon a hockey ghost army.

🕸️ Final Score:
🍑 Poco Peaches 3
🤠 Outlaws 2

Lesson of the night:

Peaches may look cute… but when spooky season hits, watch out — they come with bite. 😈🍑🏒

Game #1 - 🍁 Fall Classic Faceoff: Buddha Babes vs. Poco Peaches 🍑
The first games of the season are officially in the books, and this one had all the crisp fall vibes — a little chill in the air, a few leaves on the ice (metaphorically), and plenty of early-season chaos!

The Buddha Babes came out zen but determined, while the Poco Peaches rolled in like a wagon full of pumpkin spice energy.

After a quiet first period (likely everyone was still shaking off the Thanksgiving leftovers), the scoreboard finally woke up in the second. #11 Carrie Gillespie opened the scoring for the Peaches with a slick setup from #7 Lia Grande and #3 Emmee VanHelvert, proving that teamwork really is the secret ingredient — right behind cinnamon. But the Babes weren’t meditating on that for long. #16 Bailey Mulholland answered back with a beauty of her own, tying things up and bringing the crowd to life.

The third period, though, belonged to the Peaches. #3 Emmee VanHelvert snuck one in thanks to a perfect feed from #16 Shelby Cleveland and #17 Kayla Jardine, and then #2 Olivia Abrunzo sealed the deal with a late goal that had everyone yelling “peach, please!”

Despite strong efforts from #5 Jenna Horton, #6 Alyssa Kelley, #9 Kaylee Faddes, and the rest of the Babes’ bench, the Peaches picked up the 3–1 win — and maybe a few pumpkin muffins to celebrate.
Even the refs got into the fall spirit, handing out a lone bench minor to the Peaches (served by Jardine, because what’s fall without a little bench drama?).

In the end, both teams skated off smiling, grateful to trade their rakes for sticks and their cozy sweaters for jerseys. Hockey’s back — and it’s looking as fresh as a new flannel! 🍂🏒

Final Score:
🍑 Poco Peaches 3
🧘‍♀️ Buddha Babes 1

Game #2 -🍂 Opening Night Magic: Emerald Valkyries vs. Power Puck Girls ⚡️

The 7:00 PM matchup at Vale had all the ingredients of a perfect fall Sunday: cool rink air, hot coffee in the stands, and a dash of drama on the ice. The Power Puck Girls came ready to pumpkin spice things up, while the Emerald Valkyries were clearly in midseason form already — sparkly jerseys, solid passes, and a whole lot of green energy. 💚

The game started with a bang when #19 Eliza Durant of the Power Puck Girls buried the season’s first puck from #10 Mallory Crossman, proving that the PPGs didn’t need any warm-up period. But the Valkyries weren’t about to let anyone steal their thunder — #18 Courtney Maud struck back minutes later, tying it up and setting the tone for what was to come.

In the second, things got spicy faster than a caramel latte. #14 Lilly Dallman put the Valkyries ahead, only for #14 Sarah Krowchuk (with a sweet feed from #7 Jessica Grabell) to even things up again for the Girls. But then, like a leaf caught in the wind, Courtney Maud floated in her second of the night — assisted by #11 Cathleen Iwanowski — and the Valkyries took the lead for good.

The third period sealed the deal: Maud completed her autumn hat trick 🍁 with helpers from #9 Meghan Marigomen and #14 Lilly Dallman, giving the Valks a 4–2 win and earning her serious bragging rights (and maybe a pumpkin muffin or two).

The Puck Girls gave it their all — #4 Alicia Charles, #8 Amanda Harry, #18 Caitlin Pye, and #11 Victoria Peebles were all over the ice — but the Valkyries’ defense and #30 Sarah Giles between the pipes kept things steady.

A late bench penalty gave the crowd one last bit of suspense, but the Valkyries held firm to wrap up a crisp, clean opening win.
Both squads left the ice smiling — because no matter the score, hockey season is finally here, and it’s looking brighter than the fall leaves at Vale. 🍃✨

Final Score:
💚 Emerald Valkyries 4
⚡️ Power Puck Girls 2

Game #3 - 🍁 Sunday Night Sizzler: Hot Stixs vs. Outlaws 🤠🔥

The final game of opening night did not disappoint — the Hot Stixs brought the heat, the Outlaws brought the chaos, and the scoreboard ended up with a little of both. Fans at Vale were treated to a fall showdown that had more back-and-forth than a leaf in the wind tunnel by the Zamboni doors. 🍂

The Hot Stixs wasted no time lighting the fire — #12 Jessica Minor kicked things off with a beauty from #3 Laurie Griffin, proving the sticks were indeed hot. But the Outlaws are known for playing on the edge (and apparently, the penalty box), and #7 Nacura Barker lassoed one in just a few minutes later to tie things up.

With only nine seconds left in the first, #14 Stephanie Martino buried one for the Hot Stixs, sending her team into intermission with a 2–1 lead — and giving the bench plenty to cheer about heading into the break.

In the second, #16 Alysia Rivando-Robb decided it was time to even the score — tapping one in with help from the always-dangerous #7 Nacura Barker. From there, things got… well, messy. The Outlaws’ bench turned into a revolving door of penalty kills — tripping, body contact, too many players, you name it — they probably got it. It was like Oprah out there: “You get two minutes! You get two minutes!”

But through all the whistles, stick taps, and pumpkin-spiced power plays, neither team could break the tie. The third period saw grit from both sides — #9 Scarlett Gaboury, #7 McKenna Towner, and #21 Taylor Chalmers battled hard for the Hot Stixs, while #12 Ally Grenier, #10 Lucy Sousa, and #13 Erica Horton dug in defensively for the Outlaws.

When the buzzer sounded, it was a 2–2 draw — fitting for two teams that clearly weren’t ready to quit. The Outlaws might have spent more time in the box than on the bench, but they escaped with a point and a few good laughs.

🍂 Final Score:
🔥 Hot Stixs 2
🤠 Outlaws 2

If this first game is any indication, the season’s going to be as unpredictable — and entertaining — as a windy October night.

🍁 Opening Night Wrap-Up: Fall, Fun & Fire on the Ice! 🏒✨

April 13th Game Recaps

Game #1: Buddha Babes vs. Puckin Divas - 🌸 Spring Has Sprung, and So Did the Buddha Babes! 🌸

As the cherry blossoms bloomed and the smell of playoff dreams filled the air, the Buddha Babes brought the sunshine—and the goals—closing out the season with a 3-0 shutout over the Puckin Divas in this springtime showdown. It was the perfect send-off to a season full of heart, hustle, and a whole lot of hockey.

🌼 First Period – Rocco Gets it Rolling

The opening period saw both teams take to the ice with fresh legs and springtime optimism. The Puckin Divas came out buzzing, with strong zone coverage from #2 Tenisha Rehberg and quick backchecks from #12 Rebecca Colcock. But it was the Buddha Babes who struck first. At the 7:45 mark, #25 Allison Rocco found her opportunity and buried a beauty, giving the Babes a 1-0 lead.
The bench erupted like a confetti cannon—minus the cleanup.
Rocco’s goal set the tone, but the entire Babes lineup was in sync. #10 Lindsay Kelley moved the puck with precision, and #5 Ally Grenier shut down passing lanes like a seasoned pro. Meanwhile, the Divas kept pressing, with #1 Lauren Gibson leading some promising rushes and #16 Jessica Grabell not letting anything slide past unnoticed.

Still, no penalties in sight! Apparently, the teams had made a silent pact: more skating, less sin bin.

❄️ Second Period – The Calm Before the Bloom

The second period had the crowd holding its breath. Neither team managed to light the lamp, but the pace didn’t slow down. Buddha Babes defenders like #4 Jenna Horton and #20 Odie Morningstar were rock solid, sending pucks back up the boards and denying every odd-man rush like seasoned playoff vets.

On the Divas’ end, #23 Kylie Wilson and #8 Alicia Charles did their best to find cracks in the Babes' armor, while goalie #30 Sarah Giles turned away everything that came her way, flashing the glove and keeping her crease cleaner than a spring kitchen.

The fans may not have seen a goal this frame, but the end-to-end action and zero-penalty pace kept everyone on the edge of their lawn chairs—I mean, bleachers.

🌸 Third Period – Wagner’s First & a Kelley Capper

Then came the third, and like the first real warm day of spring, things finally bloomed.

Just 1:37 in, the magic moment arrived. #9 Alex Wagner—who had been buzzing all game—found herself in the right spot at the right time and fired home her first-ever goal. Teammates poured off the bench like tulips in April, and the celebration was as sweet as a scoop of sorbet. Way to go, Alex! First goals only happen once, and this one was a beauty.

With the Divas pressing hard to respond, the Babes held strong. Big plays from #11 Brooklyne Jones, #18 Jayden Cline, and #21 Caitlin Pye helped keep the puck moving in the right direction. And in the final seconds—literally— #6 Alyssa Kelley added the icing to the carrot cake, snapping in a goal with just two seconds left on the clock. Talk about dramatic flair! That buzzer-beater sealed the deal and had the crowd on their feet (and maybe wiping away a proud tear or two).

Final Score: Buddha Babes 3 - Puckin Divas 0

On the Divas’ side, it wasn’t for lack of effort. Their lines kept pushing, and Giles remained composed under pressure. #5 Laura Herbert skated with fire, and #10 Cathleen Iwanowski showed great puck control through the neutral zone. They may not have found the back of the net, but they showed heart until the very last whistle.

💪 Puckin Divas Hold Their Heads High

The scoreboard may not have been kind, but the Puckin Divas played with spirit and sportsmanship from start to finish. The chemistry on the bench, the effort on every shift, and their penalty-free discipline showed that they’re a team full of character. With solid goaltending from Sarah Giles, strong positional play, and a team-first mentality, this is a group ready to come back next season stronger, faster, and hungrier than ever.

🌷 A Perfectly Blossomed Ending

And just like that, the final buzzer marked the end of another unforgettable season. The Buddha Babes wrapped things up with a statement win—great goals, a shutout performance from #30 Faith Asselin (AP), and even a first goal to boot. What more could you ask for?

It was a game filled with sunshine energy, team spirit, and the kind of camaraderie that makes rec hockey feel like a second home. Whether you were scoring goals, blocking shots, or just cheering from the bench, this spring finale had something for everyone.
Until next season, folks—keep your skates sharp, your passes crisp, and never forget to celebrate those little victories (and first goals) along the way. 🌼🥅💖

Game #2 – Hot Stixs vs. The Monty’s - 🌷 Hot Stix vs. The Montys – A Full-Bloom Beatdown to End the Season 🌷

Well folks, spring has sprung, the flowers are blooming, and so were The Montys—on the scoreboard, that is. In this final tilt of the season, The Montys took to the ice with the power of a pollen storm and left the Hot Stix sneezing and scrambling in an 8-4 goal fest. If this game were a garden, The Montys were the lawnmower.

🌼 First Period – Goals Galore and No Allergy Relief

The game opened like a bouquet being hurled at full speed. At 8:26, Montys’ #4 Tianna Crumb lit the lamp with a slick finish, setting the tone early. But Hot Stix came to play— #20 Suze Boge tied it up just two minutes later with a rocket of a shot that had Montys’ goalie #1 Hailey Montgomery blinking in disbelief.
The goal exchange didn't stop there. #8 Andrea Roy-Agro answered back for The Montys at 5:46, only to be countered by back-to-back beauties from Hot Stix’s #7 McKenna Mayes and #18 Jessica Minor. With 3:12 still on the clock, the Stix had clawed out a 3-2 lead, and their bench was chirping like robins in April.

But with just 15 seconds left in the period, #21 Victoria Peebles showed off some serious net-front finesse and tied it up 3-3, reminding everyone that The Montys were just getting warmed up.
Meanwhile, Hot Stix players like #5 Elsa Figueroa and #12 Telina Fishbach hustled hard, disrupting breakouts and making life a little less breezy for The Montys.

🌱 Second Period – Calm Before the Goal-nado

The second frame slowed down in scoring but definitely not in momentum. #14 Jenna Turner gave The Montys the go-ahead goal at 7:41, tipping in a rebound with the grace of a swan and the precision of a gardener planting tulips in straight lines.

Behind the play, #6 Andrea Devries were grinding out defensive zone clears, giving the Hot Stix zero time to breathe. Meanwhile, #18 Kelsey Visser quietly racked up helpers and puck possession like she was hoarding chocolate eggs after an Easter hunt.

Hot Stix’s #2 Ashley Marshall and #4 Ashley Chalmers fought to stabilize things on the back end, and goalie Elizabeth Ritza (yes, pulling double duty as player/staff MVP) stood tall despite the mounting Monty pressure.

🌸 Third Period – Monty Mayhem Unleashed

Then the third happened—and The Montys turned into full-on spring monsters.

#11 Melissa Masterson opened the floodgates at 5:23, finishing off a slick pass from Tianna Crumb. Less than a minute later, Jenna Turner was back at it, notching her second goal at 4:52 (from Visser and Masterson), and then her hat trick goal just 40 seconds later at 4:12. Honestly, if this had been an outdoor game, there would’ve been flower petals raining from the sky.

As if that weren’t enough, Victoria Peebles decided to put an exclamation point on the game with her second of the night at 0:16, giving The Montys their 8th and final goal. Let’s just say, by that point, the Hot Stix looked like they were ready to swap their sticks for lawn chairs.

Final Score: The Montys 8 – Hot Stix 4

Shoutout to Montys’ #5 Kathleen Bartman, #7 Jodi Van Es, and #12 Maddy Schmalz for solid two-way play and some sneaky-good puck movement that helped keep the Stix off balance all game long. And of course, goalie Hailey Montgomery held things down after that wild first period, turning aside every shot in the second and third like a goalie possessed (by spring spirit, obviously).

🐣 Hot Stix Wrap it Up With Heart

The Hot Stix may have been outscored, but not out-hearted. With strong showings from skaters like #9 Jessica Swance, #14 Taylor Chalmers, and #16 Chrishon Gambarotto, they played with grit, laughs, and more high-fives than a kid’s birthday party.

They didn’t get the dub, but they definitely brought the fun—and some quality chirps along the way.

🌷 Final Buzzer – A Season in Full Bloom

And that’s a wrap, folks! The Montys closed out their season like a garden in full bloom—colorful, powerful, and slightly overwhelming if you're on the wrong end of it. Hot Stix gave it their all and went down swinging, skating, and smiling.

Thanks to both teams for a season of epic matchups, surprise goals, and zero penalties (seriously, are you all angels now?). Until next season—stay fresh, stay feisty, and don’t forget to stretch before your next garden hockey showdown. 🏒🌼🌞

Game #3: Poco Peaches vs. The Outlaws - 🌷 The Buddha Cup Blooms in Peach! 🍑

The cherry blossoms weren’t the only things bursting into bloom this spring—so were the Poco Peaches, who staged a stunning third-period comeback to pluck victory from the Outlaws and raise the glorious, golden (okay, silver) Buddha Cup overhead!

This championship had everything: goals, grit, great hair, and not a single penalty. Just good ol’ fashioned spring hockey vibes. Let’s break it down like we’re all sliding on fresh puddles of snowmelt.

🌸 First Period – Outlaws Take the Reins

The Outlaws came out with some serious yeehaw energy. Just 1:30 into the game, #15 Alysia Rivando-Robb found twine with a beauty goal set up by #7 Brooke Fleming and the ever-dangerous #13 Erica Horton.

Peaches’ goalie #30 Kayleigh Carter stood tall like a blossoming daffodil in the face of more pressure, with defenders #2 Terri Steingart (coaching from the bench like a Zen master) and #16 Shelby Cleveland clearing the zone with fierce determination. Contributions also came from #5 Mary Gough and #10 Kristina Lavoie, making sure no Outlaw passed through the neutral zone without a polite spring bump.

🌱 Second Period – Still the Outlaws’ Rodeo

The Outlaws weren’t done planting seeds of doubt. At 1:17, #8 Jen Teal lit the lamp with a silky finish, assisted by #17 Jocelyn Sexton and #14 Kayla White, proving that teamwork blooms best in spring.
Meanwhile, the Peaches’ forwards were generating rushes, with #7 Lia Grande, #13 Brooke Robinson, and #18 Marlee VanHelvert buzzing like bees but just couldn’t get the puck past Outlaws’ keeper #1 Faith Asselin, who was cooler than a cucumber in a spring salad. Outlaws’ defenders like #5 Allison White, #9 Hailey Gifford, #10 Lucy Stoop, and #18 Meighan Sexton kept the Peaches at bay like garden gnomes on patrol.

🌼 Third Period – Peaches’ Blossom Bonanza

Then—just like a late-April surprise tulip—the Peaches bloomed BIG.

At 7:41, #4 Emily Caldwell cracked the scoreboard, finishing a crisp pass from #12 Amy Lloyd and #15 Carrie Gillespie. The Peaches’ bench erupted like someone had just brought iced coffee to a garden party.

At 5:57, Amy Lloyd was back at it, roofing one off a sneaky feed from #14 Kathleen Fenech and Gillespie again, tying it up 2-2 and shifting momentum harder than a windstorm on laundry day.
And with just 43 seconds left in regulation, Amy Lloyd struck again for her second of the night and third point, this time assisted by #17 Kayla Jardine and Caldwell. That’s what we call a full bloom takeover.

The Outlaws scrambled, with their squad throwing everything at the net—including grit from every skater on the roster—but the Peaches held firm behind Carter’s clutch goaltending and some epic team defense. From the bench, coach Terri Steingart may or may not have summoned the hockey gods with her clipboard.

Final Score: Poco Peaches 3 – Outlaws 2

🏆 The Buddha Cup Finds a New Home

As the buzzer rang and glitter (or maybe just glove sweat) filled the air, the Poco Peaches claimed their hard-earned 3-2 comeback victory and hoisted the Buddha Cup like the spring queens they are.
Huge props to the Outlaws for an incredible season, with standout efforts from their scoring leaders and fearless play all around. You don’t make it to the championship without bringing the fire—and they brought it all season long.

But on this magical April evening, the Peaches proved that when spring comes calling, anything can blossom. 🍑🌞🌸

Congratulations to both teams for a spectacular season! Until next year—stay peachy, stay outlaw, and remember: the Buddha Cup shines brightest in the springtime.
