🥌 A Huge Thank You and A Quick Message About Our Club’s Future

First, thank you to everyone who volunteered and helped host the MLA Mixed Bonspiel this weekend. These events only happen because of you and they matter more than you know. ❤️

As we head into Family Day weekend (and enjoy a well-earned Monday off!), we want to share something important.

Our curling club costs about $60,000 per year to operate. Membership fees this season were about $10,700.

We’re often asked why we don’t just raise dues or hire people but if dues alone covered costs, membership would be over $2,000 per person. That’s not realistic.

The future of the club comes down to one thing: membership.

We need to know there is interest, demand, and a desire to keep curling in Port Carling.

We would love to see the club busy every night and even daytime leagues if people want it.

So we’ll ask the question honestly:
Do you want the Port Carling Curling Club to be around?

• Encourage a friend to try curling

• Let us know you’re interested

This club is about community, staying active, and having fun. We want it to continue and that depends on all of us.

🥌 Port Carling Curling Club – Weekly Update!
A little late this week… blame the first snowfall for distracting all of us ❄️😂

❄️ Junior Curling Reminder:
If the school buses run → Jr curling is ON.
If buses are cancelled → Jr curling is CANCELLED.

🎄 Big thanks to Jess for adding some festive cheer to the front entrance — it looks amazing!

🙌 Volunteers Needed!
We could use a little extra help with:
• Social media
• Fundraising
• Junior curling on-ice support
• And the usual tidying + vacuuming
Every little bit helps keep the club going strong. ❤️

Week 4 Curling Update! 🥌

A fun week on the ice — including a Thursday night showdown between your president and the ice maker. (Tip: never bet against the ice maker 😅)

Big thanks to Sam for vacuuming, Adam for cleaning the front doors, and Rick for taking out the garbage. Little jobs = big difference!

We need your help:
Membership is down, and like many clubs (you may have heard Gravenhurst is struggling), we need more curlers to keep things strong.

👉 We’re open to adding new leagues and nights, including a Friday Night League if there’s interest!

Ladies Interclub has started, Masters and Grandmasters are underway, and there’s always room to join Monday or Wednesday nights.
We didn’t run the bonspiel this time but hope to reschedule — let us know if you’d like to help on a bonspiel committee!

🥌 Junior Curling is back at the Port Carling Curling Club!

Ready to slide into a new season of fun? Our Junior Curling program is kicking off — and it’s open to all skill levels! Whether you’re brand new to the sport or already love to throw a rock, this program combines skill-building, teamwork, and lots of laughs in a supportive, inclusive environment.

🤍 All equipment provided — we supply curling shoes, brooms, a hoodie, and a jacket!
💙 All skill levels welcome
🤍 Fun, safe, and community-focused

It’s a great way for kids to stay active, make friends, and be part of something truly Canadian.
