To the Person or Persons that sent me a letter with your concerns,
Unfortunately the letter was sent with no contact information, no return address, and no other contact has been made. So I have to use this public platform to reply in hopes that it will find its way to you.
While I can appreciate your concerns, I am unsure as to why you feel that I have the ability or authority to try to control the boaters behaviour on GCL? I do not own the lake, nor do I own Trestle RV Park.
Had we have been able to have this discussion in person I would have shared with you that I do in fact deal with obnoxious waves all summer, both inside and outside the marina. My chosen approach over the years is to calmly speak to people. For the most part it is simply an innocent lack of awareness. For example when people enter or leave the marina they often are going slow but unbeknownst to them their boat is “plowing” and causing huge waves behind them. I have never had anyone ever react negatively when I kindly explain my concern. You may find this with float homes; if someone has never been on a float home, they probably cannot even fathom the havoc that waves can cause.
I do take offence to the implication that I have the “they are just squatters” attitude and that I am disrespectful. That could not be further from the truth!. I have always advocated for the cabins, as I believe they are an important part of the lakes history. I have been on the lake for 21 years and take a lot of pride in being apart of the community at Great Central and am very proud and blessed to call a vast majority of the float home owners my friends.
If you know that this one particular boater was from Trestle then may I suggest that you take your concern to them directly? Further if you would like to help educate boaters, please feel free to stand at our boat launch and hand out your maps. If you still have concerns please feel free to come and see me anytime 😉
