Fantastic day at the Winter Classic in Chemainus! 10 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals overall. Looks like we took the adult team standings with 7 gold, and we had by far the best win/loss ratio of any team in the top 10!
Ivan had his typical dominant performance, with all subs in his nogi advanced division.
Anthony had a similarly dominant performance in his nogi intermediate division, even scoring the classic ITT rolling back take to a RNC finish to earn a $50 cool move bonus!
Dave picked up gold in his gi purple belt division and a bronze in the nogi expert division.
Jamus took silver in that adult expert division as a masters blue belt, finishing above adult division purple belts and a brown belt from other clubs, even defeating the division's gold medalist in the round robin format. Amazing showing!
Mike was dominant in his nogi advanced division.
Zach had a couple of wars, but came out with gold in his nogi intermediate and gi white belt divisions against some mountainous individuals.
Gavin scored all submissions, and quickly, taking gold as a white belt in the mixed white/blue division.
Seth made his competition debut, landing gold in his nogi beginner division with all wins, 2 by submission, very impressive considering how briefly he has been training and having no competitive sports experience!
Breanne took silver as a white belt put into the nogi expert division against blue and brown belts, looking super composed and coachable coming back from a month layoff!
Sara collected silver, also looking amazing considering she missed the last 2 weeks of training due to illness!
Aaron scored another Caio Ankle Lock en route to silver as well.
As always, fantastic coaching by Cory with our kids and adults, as well as his crew, who delivered a gold and 2 silver, following the parent club with by the far the best win/loss ratio of the smaller clubs in attendance!
