It’s race week at our home track of Sunset Speedway. Let’s see what we can do!🏁
CHARGING AHEAD: Ontario Sportsman Series Returns to Sunset Speedway for its second visit, for 100 laps presented by Learn To Trade, Akal Steel Inc., and N2Y Tire & Performance!
Here's some names to keep an eye on as we return to Sunset!
1) #4 Connor James: Connor was the winner here in the spring and after collecting another solid second place finish at Full Throttle, the points leader looks to give himself solid footing in the championship by pulling off another win.
2) #71 Cory McAllister: Undoubtably McAllister has been the one to watch in 2023, and despite having a rocky season with mechanical gremlins, he returns home after another solid performance at Full Throttle. The Two Speed Motorsports pilot was flying earlier in the season at Sunset, before mechanical issues sent him around in turn three. This time around he's hoping to celebrate with a beverage from the beer garden in victory lane,
3) #02 Brendan Patrick: The nineteen year old driver of car #02 was a standout the last two races at Sunset, obtaining two podium finishes in third and then second here in June. There is no doubt the car is really good at Sunset, and Brendan has shown that he can drive the track really well. The momentum has cooled off his DMAC Technologies Ltd. Camaro after his big Peterborough win, but this could be the track to reignite the spark.
4) #3 Billy Zardo: Why do we bring in Billy Zardo into the #4 spot? Black Magic Racing's last two starts, plus the heartbreak he had back in June! The #3 Speedy Auto-Guelph Monte Carlo has been on rails with The Intimidator behind the wheel. Before the shove in turn one, Tolton was on cruise control to win at Peterborough, but then backed it up with a dominating performance at Full Throttle. Zardo had a chance earlier this year, but a mechanical issue in practice led to him not getting to turn a lap.
5) #44 Brad Robinson: The driver of the #44 Muskoka Jet Ski Rentals Camaro has seen his best performances of recent memory the last two races, with two straight podiums. Robinson led his first career laps at Sunset in 2022, and was running a solid fourth before handling trouble resulted in him being shuffled backward here in June. The momentum has swung for the Gravenhurst driver and he's looking to continue his hot streak as we return to the Innisfil track.
HONOURABLE MENTION:
For a thirteen year old, not much was expected of Ollie Ferguson when he joined the OSS this season. The young racer out of Lindsay, Ontario has shown the veteran based series is a great place for him however, and his improvement has turned many heads. Ferguson has gone from a just driver in the series, to one everyone pays attention to. Ollie had a tough start, missing Delaware, but considering that, what he's done in such a short amount of time , is nothing short of spectacular.
