Our pickleball players recently participated in a fun in-house tournament and skills competition. It was a great day filled with laughter, comradery and a little bit of competition 😂. Congratulations to all who participated and thank you to Paul, Anne and Louise for organizing and running the event.

Petawawa Civitan Tennis and Pickleball Club
Singles Tennis Tournament

June 13 and 14 (Friday and Saturday)
Participants must have a rating level of at least 3.

Register by Wednesday June 11, 2025 by emailing Marc Goulet

Date and Time: Friday starting at 5 pm, continuing Saturday starting at 12 pm. (after lessons)

Format: A draw will be formed with A and B side. (guaranteed 2 matches)

Entry Fee : $10 paid to the club - cash or e-transfer (cost of tennis balls and prize money)
A list of participants will be emailed to all involved on Thursday, June 12

Tennis Canada Self Rating Guide excerpt:

RATING 3.0 details:

GROUNDSTROKES (forehand and backhand): Able to rally consistently 10 balls in a row on forehands and backhands. Able to maintain the rally when receiving high, short or wide balls, assuming the ball is received at a moderate pace, especially on the forehand stroke.

RETURN OF SERVE: Can control the direction of the ball in both singles and doubles, when receiving a serve of moderate pace.

NET PLAY (volleys and overheads): Very consistent on forehand volley with easy balls, inconsistent on backhand volley. Overall has difficulty with low and wide balls. Can smash easy lobs.

SERVE: Full motion on both serves. Able to achieve more than 50% success on first serve. Second serve much slower than first serve.

Your child doesn’t need to know rules or scoring we will have folks to help. Lunch and prizes included!

Congratulations to all of our club players who participated in the Rally in the Valley and the 55 + Pickleball games at Deep River Shoreline Sports Club . Thanks to all the volunteers who made the events so successful!!

For 3 days, club pickleball players volunteered their time, to introduce the game to students from Valour Jk-12 School. Over 100 grade 9's participated in the sessions. Thanks to Paul, for taking the lead and Naid, Louise and Sharon for assisting. Paddle up!

It's hard to believe our open house was almost 2 weeks ago! Fingers crossed the weather will start to warm up and stop raining so we can get back on the courts! Thanks to all the volunteers who helped at the event and the Civic Center Staff who installed the wind screens. Registration is still open, send us a message or better yet stop by the courts and chat with some players! See you on the courts!

We’re getting ready for an exciting season at the Petawawa Tennis and Pickleball Civitan Club! Here are a few important updates:

Court Clean-up Day: May 3, from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

Open House: May 10.

We also want to let you know that membership fees for this season have been updated:

Adult: $100

Family: $210

Student/Junior: $40

As always, the club runs on volunteer support, and we invite everyone to get involved. If you're interested in helping out, please take a moment to complete this form by April 30: Getting Involved at the Petawawa Tennis and Pickleball Civitan Club.

As the weather warms up and our open house date draws near, it's exciting to think about hitting the courts for tennis and pickleball outside. Looking ahead to the 2025 season, we'll be announcing updated club membership prices soon, which will reflect a slight increase.
