Last weekend we took the 55 to the Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough Speedway. On the very first lap of our first qualifying heat race on Friday, in corner 3 & 4, two of the usual offenders wrecked in front of us and we ended up with a torn up front end and broken radiator. Both qualifying heats for the OSCAAR Hotrods were the same afternoon/evening so we did not make it to the second.

We replaced the rad and bandaged up the front end of our 55 so we could run the feature race on Sunday. It was another gong show with a wreck in the very first lap, coming out of corner 2. Luckily we started scratch since we qualified last place due to not finishing the first heat and not racing in the second heat on Friday. Dave Waite avoided the carnage this time.

Later in the race we were run into from behind a few times between corners 2 & 3 and ultimately knocked out of the way by a car who couldn’t figure out how to drive around us. This is out of view in the race footage. Our 4x1 steel tube bumper was twisted and bumper mounts bent up and inward.

It was an expensive weekend for Dave Wood, our car owner. Rules only work if enforced and punishments handed out regularly for breaking them.

Here is the race; hard to believe this is supposed to be a ‘Gentlemen’s NON-contact series’.
