Today marks 3 years since I quit smoking.
In summer 2022, I got curious about ci**rs after seeing influencers and celebrities posting about them on social media.
Unfortunately, I got caught up in the hype.
For nearly 3 months, I developed a habit of smoking 1–2 ci**rs a week.
While this may seem brief, it was enough time for the habit to negatively affect me.
I thought I was being cool and classy, but in reality I was caught in a sinister trap.
Here are the three main reasons that led me to quit ci**rs and all forms of smoking:
1️⃣ Physical Health and Personal Values
Despite ci**rs being “different” from ci******es, I knew I was still exposing myself to harmful chemicals and increasing my risk of serious health problems down the road. Plus, I’m a fitness guy—I should be healthy, practice what I preach, and keep my body in good shape.
2️⃣ Burning Through My Wallet
Ci**rs aren’t cheap in general, but they’re even more expensive in Canada due to regulations and taxes. I was spending $15–$20 per cigar. At 1–2 ci**rs a week, I was easily spending over $100 CAD a month. My money was literally going up in smoke!
3️⃣ The Addiction Creeping In
I started noticing that whenever I hit a challenge or obstacle in my life, I would hear a little voice in my head whisper: “Everything will feel better if you just head to the cigar shop, pick a good stick, and sink into a ‘relaxing’ smoke session 😈.” This is when I knew I had to quit.
So how did I escape the trap?
I listened to “Allen Carr’s Easy Way to Quit Smoking” audiobook in one evening and quit overnight.
No willpower, no withdrawal symptoms—and best of all, it was easy.
Since then, I haven’t been tempted to smoke ci**rs, ci******es, ma*****na, vapes, or ho**ah.
The trap is gone—I’m free!
