Karate Season Starts Soon!

Classes begin Monday, September 7, 2026

Get ready to kick off another exciting karate season! Whether you are returning to training or joining us for the first time, we look forward to building skills, confidence, discipline, and community together.
Monday class times:
• Beginners ages 6-11 : 6:15 PM to 7:00 PM
• Coloured belts and ages 12+: 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Please note: The Beginners under age 12 class will be limited to 10 participants. A waitlist will be maintained to allow access to classes as space becomes available.

Wednesday class times:
• Coloured belts and adults: 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM

Mark your calendar: Karate season starts September 7, 2026. Registration is available by email.

CONGRATULATIONS to Ceci Sensei!! What an accomplishment! We will miss you while you are off at school!

Parry Sound High School student Ceci Martens has been named as a recipient of the prestigious Schulich Leaders award valued at $100,000.

This award, geared toward students in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), not only provides significant financial support to winners, but also connects them with a network of mentors within their fields of study.

Ceci will be studying Mathematics and Statistics at McMaster University, with the hope to one day pursue a career in Mathematics and Cryptography. She plans to work in encryption, keeping personal digital information safe.

0n Saturday May 23 Ceci competed in the Itosu Kai Canadian Championships held in Pembroke. She competed in both Kata (Forms) and Kumite (Sparring). Ceci had a great competition winning 3rd place in her Kumite Black Belt division. Well done!
Thanks to the organizers for an incredible welcoming atmosphere and very well run event! Although a highly competitive tournament the smiles in this photo reflect the underlying spirit of the event!

On Saturday May 9th Ceci and Harrison competed in the Budoka Championships in Sudbury. Multiple Martial Arts organizations from across Ontario participated in this event. Ceci and Harrison competed in Kata, Kobudo (Weapons) and Kumite (Sparring). All competitors had the opportunity to participate in five events including a team event.
Ceci placed 3rd in the very competitive Black Belt Kumite event for individuals (18-25).
Her first tournament experience with a K**a Kata went well!
Harrison’s first experience demonstrating a Tonfa Kata was excellent.
Both Ceci and Harrison did a great job representing themselves and Itosu Kai.

We will not be having a class Monday May 18!

Instead, we will have two classes this week..

Wednesday May 20 at McDougall (6:15-7:00 for our youngest people)(7:00-8:15 for others)

Thursday May 21 at the HUB…same times as above.

Everyone planning on ranking June 10 should, if at all possible, attend both days.

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO CLASS LOCATION/DATES/TIMES

We will be moving all classes to the HUB at 86 Gibson Street, Parry Sound starting on May 18 until June 29.
May. 18, 21, 25, 28.
June 8, 11, 15,18,22,25,29.
*********Please Note that with this change we will move to a Monday/Thursday Schedule ***********

Please be aware that there will be equipment in the gym used by the Early Years program.
We will move equipment to the side so we will have plenty of space. Just a reminder we are guests of the HUB and no equipment belonging to the Early Years program should be used at any time. Thanks
Classes for our youngest students will be held on Monday and Wednesday at 6:30.
Classes for our more experienced students will start at 7:10-8:30. We are encouraging everyone to come out both days as we are going to arrange a ranking in June with Tsuruma Sensei. Date, time and location to be determined.
