📣 Funding Program Highlight- New Horizons for Seniors

The Government of Canada’s "New Horizons for Seniors Program" is accepting applications to support community-based projects that improve the lives of older adults. Organizations may apply for funding to launch initiatives that encourage senior volunteerism, reduce social isolation, support healthy aging, create intergenerational connections, improve accessibility, and strengthen community participation.

Projects that actively engage seniors in planning and delivery are encouraged. This is a great opportunity for recreation professionals and community organizations to bring new ideas to life and expand inclusive recreation opportunities across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Applications are open until July 14!

🌊🏖️ June is Recreation Month — and there’s something truly special about exploring the shorelines of Newfoundland & Labrador. 💙

From quiet beach walks and collecting sea glass to listening to the waves roll in along our rugged coastlines, our shores offer the perfect place to slow down, recharge, and reconnect with nature. 🌿

This month, take time to breathe in the salty air, discover a hidden cove, or enjoy a peaceful sunset by the water. Recreation doesn’t always have to be fast-paced — sometimes the best moments are the calm ones. ☀️

How will you explore Newfoundland & Labrador’s beautiful shoreline this June?

Inclusive recreation starts with all of us. 🌈

This Recreation Month, we encourage organizations, leaders, volunteers, and community members across Newfoundland and Labrador to think about how we can make recreation spaces more welcoming and accessible for everyone.

Small changes can make a big impact:
✔️ Accessible spaces
✔️ Inclusive programming
✔️ Welcoming environments
✔️ Opportunities for everyone to participate

Because everyone deserves the chance to play, connect, and belong. 💚

We're excited about this partnership too!

🍎🏅 We’re excited to welcome Eat Great and Participate and Colemans as Friends of the 2026 NL Summer Games!

Through this partnership, athletes across the province will have access to nutritious snacks and refreshments at Athlete Break Areas throughout Games Week, helping them refuel, recharge, and perform at their best.

From August 8–15, more than 1,600 athletes, coaches, managers, and mission staff will gather in Corner Brook to celebrate sport, community, and excellence. Thanks to the support of Eat Great and Participate and Colemans, we're helping create a healthier and more enjoyable Games experience for everyone involved.

And there's even more to look forward to! 🎉 The Colemans store on O'Connell Drive will be embracing the spirit of the Games all summer long with a special sports-themed experience for shoppers and visitors to enjoy. A huge shoutout to the local store management and staff for their enthusiasm, creativity, and support in helping bring the excitement of the Games to the community.

Thank you for supporting the next generation of Newfoundland and Labrador athletes! 💙💚
