Baseball Newfoundland & Labrador participated in a 16U Girls Developmental Exhibition Series this past weekend in Toronto.

The primary purpose of the Baseball Newfoundland & Labrador (Baseball NL) Development Teams is to provide athletes and coaches with additional training and competition opportunities as part of the Baseball NL High Performance Program. The Dev teams serve as a pathway to prepare athletes for possible future provincial team selection and higher levels of baseball.
Key objectives include:
- Player Development: Improve technical skills, game knowledge, physical preparation, and mental performance.
- Coach Development: Provide coaches with opportunities to work in a high-performance environment, enhance their technical and leadership skills, gain experience with provincial-level athletes, and build capacity.
- Talent Identification: Develop and evaluate athletes and coaches who may progress to provincial teams, Canada Games programs, or other high-performance opportunities.
- Competitive Experience: Provide athletes and coaches with opportunities to compete against strong opposition and gain experience in a high-performance environment.
- Long-Term Athlete Development: Prepare players for the transition to provincial teams, Atlantic and national level competition, higher age divisions and beyond. Sport for life.
Development teams are about building the future provincial talent pool. The focus is on athlete growth, evaluation, and preparing players for the next level rather than solely on competitive results.
As part of the experience Team NL did some sightseeing and attended a Blue Jays game on Friday evening, which was a big highlight.
